Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters promotion has been kicking it into high gear lately, and the latest still to be released shows Nathan Fillion as Hermes, the messenger god.

The image comes via @PercyMovies, the official Twitter account for Sea of Monsters. They asked for 1,000 tweets using the #PercyJackson hashtag before we could get a glimpse of photo.

Merely an hour ago the demigods reached the goal, and they released an official still of Nathan Fillion playing Hermes:

Percy Jackson Sea of Monsters Nathan Fillion Hermes

Hermes is in disguise as a UPS employee, which is appropriate as he is the god of messengers. He’s also the god of travel and thieves, among other things. In the books, Hermes is Luke’s father and an ally to Percy and his friends. He helps Percy by giving him a quest and offering several magical items, including a thermos that holds winds from the four corners of the Earth, as seen in the recently released trailer.

ComingSoon also brings us a first look at the official poster that should be making its way around the country’s theatres over the coming months.

In recent news, Fillion spoke out about how the main trio in the movie (Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, and Brandon T. Jackson) has “restored my faith in humanity.”

Don’t forget to check out the other official stills that were released for the film, which includes a look at Stanley Tucci as Dionysus!

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters comes out on August 16. It stars Lerman as Percy, Daddario as Annabeth, Jackson as Grover, and Jake Abel as Luke. Fillion (Hermes), Tucci (Dionysus), Leven Rambin (Clarisse), and Douglas Smith (Tyson) also star.

I honestly love the movie poster. But Hermes isn’t how I pictured him at all… but I guess it comes down to the acting to really sell the part!

  • Winkyxx

Uhh..Is that Thalia or Clarisse in the poster?? I’m thinking Thalia but thats not how I pictured her and she doesn’t really have a major part in this movie…?

    • Lucy Hopko

I hope it’s Thalia because that’s how I pictured her..

      • Winkyxx

Well I pictured her with shorter hair.. but its all good, we shall see!

    • Karen Rought

I’m fairly certain that’s Leven Rambin as Clarisse. She has a much larger role than Thalia does, so it makes sense Clarisse would be featured here.

I honestly have no idea who he is . . . I’m kind of outdated on a lot of actors.

    • Glaciusx

I’ve tried watching it, but I couldn’t get past the first five minutes.

        • Glaciusx

omg trust me ok i thought it was boring at the start too but i kept with it and it was so magical. TRUST ME IT GETS BETTER AND SERENITY IS JUST BEAUTIFUL.

          this has been a post.

I’ll go back to it in a year or so.

OH MY GOD I LOVE HOW MUCH MORE EFFORT THEY’RE PUTTING INTO PROMOS!

  • Theo

Is this going to be better than the first movie? I tried to watch it but I couldn’t get past the first 10 minutes without being totally disgusted by the way they completely deviated from the book.

  • Brielle

Logan Lerman is a beautiful Jewish boy.

  • Glaciusx

EXACTLY. Nathan Fillion can do no wrong in my eyes.
