We speculated earlier this week, and now it’s official: The MTV Movie Awards will host the premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire trailer!

The Movie Awards will be held Sunday, April 14 on MTV beginning at 9 PM ET/PT. For now, you can watch a first look at the trailer below! In it, we see Katniss and Peeta on their Victory Tour about to be introduced to a District. Effie is about to give them a push on stage. It’s only five seconds, but considering it’s the first video look at the film, it has us pumped:

A press release issued by Lionsgate says that Liam Hemsworth (Gale) will introduce the trailer which is 2 1/2 minutes in length. It will then be available on HungerGamesExplorer.com in partnership with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer.

Word of a Catching Fire trailer existing first came down via actor Sam Claflin who plays Finnick.

At the start of March we were treated to gorgeous, high-res Catching Fire posters. Each featured a lead character’s portrait.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will open in theaters November 22, 2013. We’ll bring you the trailer the moment it’s online (in 11 days!).

Unlike the first Hunger Games Trailer, where we mainly saw Panem, I’d like to see several shots of the Tributes in the Arena. Just to show the comparison between the directors.

    • Plat

They are going to focus on the Victory Tour, I think they are keeping the Games under wraps for people who haven’t read the books. That is, after all, one of the main twists of the book.

I’m aware, I’m just expressing my desires.

I find it funny that we now live in a world where studios release teaser trailers of their teaser trailers. It’s seriously becoming the standard now. Anyway, I’m still excited. Even in something as simple as Katniss struggling to smile you can read so much depth behind it. Love it. :)

But if they don’t advertise that the trailer is gonna be shown at the MTVMAs, how would we know? I sure as hell wasn’t gonna watch them before I found this out. I am now. It’s advertising at work.

SPOILER DO NOT READ THIS COMMENT IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK!!!

I bet you they’re gonna show shots of the Quarter Quell in the trailer but they’re gonna pass it off as a regular Hunger Games. They’ll only show shots of the other tributes and show nothing of K+P back in the arena. That way they can still build excitement without spoiling the main event if they don’t want to.

SPOILER DO NOT READ THIS COMMENT IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE BOOK!!!

    • kat

I hope they do that, but I am not sure they are as smart as you.

OH MY GOD! Yes! The last time I was this excited to see a trailer, I think it was the trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

    • Kate

OH the memories… I miss those days.

  • Gina

Why is her hair so dark…

I thought I was the only one irked by it. This is not just two shades darker, it goes from dark brown to jet black which is a significant change.

  • Zack

It will be 2.5 MINUTES LONG!!

    • CrazyEight-23

A teaser trailer will be that long? I would love that!!!

      • Plat

        Yes it says that above.

  • jenny :)

    AAAAaaaahhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SonickedYou

Katniss’ broken smile, omfg I can’t.

  • Sofia Malik

    ARGGGH NOOO!
I’m gonna be on a school trip from April 14-19 so I won’t be able to watch it

  • Echoreyn

Inhuman noises are coming out of my mouth! AGHHHH!

And this scene looks so familiar… ;) Not sure if I’m allowed to say anything else yet, but yay!

  • theaterboy1

I honestly got goosebumps watching this preview of the teaser trailer! Can’t wait to see the whole thing!

Its the main trailer I believe though… even the mortal instruments had a “teaser” and they just released another one and its always just called a trailer. i think any trailer over 2 min isn’t considered a “teaser” anymore. This 20 sec one deff is as well as the logo teaser we got months ago! SOO excite for both thsi and TMI this year!!!!! so many fandom feels this week! :) more excited for this though! more scare for TMI then this

Jennifer Lawrence is stunning. That is all.

Is it just me or does the quality of the footage look sub par to anyone else too?

  • Bernardo Triana

I love how she forces herself to smile!

    MIND BLOWN

  • Aurilla

I did notice the new hair color, which is a good bit darker, or at least seems so. However it looks to me to make her look just a little bit older and more grown up, which definitely coincides with katniss in this movie. She feels a lot more serious and dark whereas with the brown hair of THG, she was a wee bit more childlike.
