Excuse us while we take a moment to do some speculating based on one fact and one memory.

On the most recent episode of our new, all-fandom podcast Hype, an interesting question was raised by Sonya: Could the first Hunger Games: Catching Fire trailer arrive with the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, April 14?

Sonya’s guess is an educated one. Last week Catching Fire star Sam Claflin said he’s seen a trailer, which would indicate one is ready for launch. We also remembered that The Hunger Games teaser trailer debuted at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2011 – six months away from the release of the film itself.

A release on Sunday, April 14 would put it just over seven months away from Catching Fire’s theatrical opening. The MTV Movie Awards has been a hot spot for first looks at highly-anticipated films, so it wouldn’t surprise us to see The Hunger Games sequel’s trailer debut at the high profile event.

Remember: This is complete speculation on our part, but worth bringing up given the first film’s trailer saw a release at an MTV awards event.

Though Catching Fire is still a ways away, early anticipation has run rampant thanks in part to beautiful posters released featuring the lead characters.

Even if it is only 10 seconds, I’ll honestly be happy with any new footage.

    That would be awesome

I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a sneak peek, or any footage period, at the Movie Awards. It’d be a nice way to do so.

I don’t care if it’s either 10 seconds or 34 seconds, as long as we get something. My friend, jake, actually has a theory to what the teaser trailer might have in store for us, here’s his theory: the trailer opens up with Katniss staring at a TV *goes black* then President Snow appears to be on the TV, says something *goes black* we see a terrified/shocked Katniss *goes black* then a glass of water falls to the floor in slow motion *goes black* we see nothing but hear Katniss whisper; “I’m going back!”. Then the logo appears along with the film’s release date. Whataya think, I think it might be a possibility;)

Lol, I doubt it. They will probably conceal the Quarter Quell in the marketing like they did with the Hunger Games movie. The trailers will probably focus on the Victory Tour.

      • Gary65

But the Quarter Quell is nearly half the movie. What are they gonna show in the trailer from the Victory tour to get people excited?

  • sweethoneylisette

Yes, please do it !! I want to see it. (:

This is almost a certainty. That’s what these award shows are there for really.

  • Disguy

It will be a minute at least I think-I just won’t be able to bear just 10 seconds of her running through the jungle or something…

  • Gary65

Question: How are Jen & Josh the same height in the thumbnail pic?

    • Nessarose

forced perspective of the camera angle I’m going to guess

      • Gary65

LOL or maybe Josh is standing on a soapbox

    • Kim

Josh is 5’7″. Jen is 5’7 1/2″. She usually wears 5 inch heels. Do the math.

      • Gary65

Should I be disturbed that you know their exact height?
