A collection of writings from the late Esther Earl, who was a prominent member of the Harry Potter fandom thanks to her spirit and inspiring life story, will be published this January.
The book is titled This Star Won’t Go Out: The Life & Words of Esther Grace Earl. “A collection of the journals, fiction, letters, and sketches of the late Esther Grace Earl, who passed away in 2010 at the age of 16,” reads a synopsis on Amazon. “Photographs and essays by family and friends will help to tell Esther’s story.”
John Green has penned a foreword to the book and spoke today about the news. “I’ve said many times over the last 15 months that The Fault in Our Stars, while it is dedicated to my friend Esther Earl, is not about her,” he wrote on his official Tumblr.
“Esther’s story—her true, powerful, funny, painful story—belongs to her and to her family, and I am so excited that it’s going to be told in this amazing book[.] This Star Won’t Go Out will include diary entries and sketches from Esther, and you’ll all finally get to see what a lovely writer she was. There will also be writing from Lori and Wayne, Esther’s parents, and an introduction by me.”
The hardback version of the book is available for pre-order now.
