What did you think of “The Bells and Whistles”? Krysta Rodriguez (Ana) finally got a full solo. Did you like her rendition of “If I Were A Boy”? What about Sam’s musical number?

Are you glad Jimmy and Karen got together? What do you think Jimmy’s “dangerous past” consists of?

Tune in next week when Bernadette Peters returns and Ana performs a Cirque du Soleil number.

2×09 “The Parents” episode synopsis:

After Leigh Conroy (guest star Bernadette Peters) joins the cast of “Bombshell,” Tom (Christian Borle) finds himself struggling to diffuse the years of tension between her and Ivy (Megan Hilty). Jimmy (Jeremy Jordan) and Karen’s (Katharine McPhee) connection is threatened by both Ana’s (Krysta Rodriguez) newfound success and an unexpected visitor. Derek (Jack Davenport) learns more about Jimmy’s past just as the public sees their first piece of “Hit List.” Debra Messing, Anjelica Huston, Leslie Odom, Jr. and Andy Mientus also star. Jesse L. Martin and Bernadette Peters guest star.

Smash airs Tuesday, April 2 at 10 p.m. ET on NBC before moving to Saturdays on April 6.

Ana needs to sing loads more. More than Karen. She was hot and feisty in her song. Love it.

But that song though… it just didn’t do anything for me! Yes to more Rodriguez, but no to anyone else but Beyoncé singing Beyoncé songs.

Yeah. I was hoping for a slowed down version, but it got Derek’s attention, which was the best thing about it. She could probably rock some Pink or Avril though, or at least I think.

I loved this episode a lot!! Jimmy’s song was AMAZING and the dancers did a great job! Ana’s performance trying to prove herself was powerful and wonderful! I love the chemistry between Jimmy and Karen, and I always love Kyle!

In my Opinon Ivy was over singing, but her motions were soit on … So now Tom wants to listen to the casts ideas and thoughts but Karen was “out of line” UGH LOL Lea Michelle so Glee exists in this world? Tom is acting like old Julia lol. Tom slept with Sam while Julia was there…EWW … Tom totally screwed Sam over… The Tom and Derrick enemy/friendship thing is so interesting when its actually shown on screen. The performance that Jimmy did was AWESOME THAT WAS SOOO GOOD AND GRIPPING

I’m pretty sure If “I Were A Boy” defeated “Shake it Out”‘s reign as worst song on Smash…

We FINALLY got Karen and Jimmy. YAY. Massive fangirl squeals over that. Also it looks like the constant butting heads between Derek and Jimmy might be over. So excited for next week!

I feel that I may be alone in this, but I really can’t stand Jimmy/Karen. I still don’t feel like their relationship has developed in the slightest since the early days of Jimmy being a near-constant childish douche about EVERYTHING and Karen meekly tiptoeing around him/walking out with a roll of the eyes when he gets beyond unbearable.. The make-out scene came incredibly out of left field, for me. I kind of had to fight back an embarrassed snort when they crashed on top of the dining table like a scene from Twilight…

On a happier note, I’m overjoyed to see Ivy back – did she have a bit of a sore throat this episode, or was that just me? – and the Derrick-Tom scene provided some great character development on both sides, in my opinion. Not sure what the point of the Julia’s plot line was, but perhaps it will play a part in later episodes?

I totally agree with you! Jimmy is such an over sensitive douche, what does Karen see in him? Maybe when they explain his troubled past it will be enlightening, but I have a feeling it will come off as contrived.

Yay Ivy! Karen’s a better person, but I think Ivy is a better Marilyn. And yay frenemies with Derrick & Tom!
