Pretty Little Liars fans will soon have another Marlene King show to watch on ABC Family.

King, Pretty Little Liars, and ABC Family announced on Tuesday that there will be a spin-off series, called Ravenswood, airing in October of this year. Pretty Little Liars was also renewed for a fifth season today. It just finished its third season on ABC Family.

The press release signals that current Pretty Little Liars executive producers will work on the new project, although it is unclear whether any actors from the show will carry over.

From “Pretty Little Liars” executive producers I. Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick, Joseph Dougherty and Leslie Morgenstein, “Ravenswood” will center on a town, not far from Rosewood, PA (the home base of “Pretty Little Liars”), which has suffered under a deadly curse for generations. Five strangers suddenly find themselves connected by this fatal curse and need to dig into the town’s mysterious and terrible history before it’s too late for each of them. The series will premiere on ABC Family following the annual “Pretty Little Liars” special Halloween episode in October 2013.

Pretty Little Liars has been extremely successful for ABC Family. Its third season finale episode, “A Dangerous Game,” became the first series in television history to amass over one million airtime tweets. Each week the Twitter verse was trending with terms related to the suspenseful show, and it is ABC Family’s most-watched original series viewed by 18-34 year olds.

Who do you want to see in Ravenswood?

I don’t know who I’d want to see in Ravenswood, but I cannot deny my excitement.

I don’t care who we see in Ravenswood, but I would love for the characters to mention Rosewood and stuff. :)

    Honestly….this is so irrelevant.

This seems so cynical in trying to establish a link between a hit show like PLL and this new venture which pretty much has no connection to it.

ABC family has been giving out ‘hints’ and there was a picture of a sign with Rosewood, Brookhaven, Ravenswood, and Philadelphia on it. So it is connected and you never know, there could be more than we think; it is Pretty Little Liars after all.

This doesn’t even sound like a spin-off, just another show they just placed close to Rosewood xD Needless to say, I’m excited for it. Sounds interesting.

Wait, so it’s PLL, but with magic?

  • Rebecca Walden

I wish they’d go ahead and wrap up PLL. It’s only been three seasons? Gosh, it seems like it’s been a lot more than that. I feel like they’ve been drawing it out for so long that I’m getting tired and wish they would just conclude it already.

i dont know why but the concept of 5 strangers coming together because of an ancient secret kind of reminds me of the secret circle.

I need more info before I get super excited. The description reminds me of The Secret Circle & I loved that show so I will probably give it a chance.
BTW I will be sad if The Lying Game gets cancelled by ABCFamily

given how incredibly bad PPL has become lately (well, after season 1, really), i don’t think i’d watch something created by the same people. i mean, maybe, if they get some good writers and proper actors, it could work, since PPL wasn’t always that bad. but we’ll see, i guess. i might watch the first episode, at least.

I don’t know about this. I hope it’s not Pretty Little Liars related at all because if we are left with clues when the last season ends of PLL then I will feel like I have to watch this show just to make sure there’s not more to everything. I just wanted my seasons of PLL and that’s it. I want to know everything 100 percent, who A is, all the A Team members, what Tobys deal is, I don’t want to have to watch another show to find out anything more. If the actors cross over to the new show I will consider it but if my questions are answered then it’s doubtful, unless Keegan Allen is one but he’s working on other projects if you check out his imdb page.
