Pretty Little Liars fans will soon have another Marlene King show to watch on ABC Family.
King, Pretty Little Liars, and ABC Family announced on Tuesday that there will be a spin-off series, called Ravenswood, airing in October of this year. Pretty Little Liars was also renewed for a fifth season today. It just finished its third season on ABC Family.
The press release signals that current Pretty Little Liars executive producers will work on the new project, although it is unclear whether any actors from the show will carry over.
From “Pretty Little Liars” executive producers I. Marlene King, Oliver Goldstick, Joseph Dougherty and Leslie Morgenstein, “Ravenswood” will center on a town, not far from Rosewood, PA (the home base of “Pretty Little Liars”), which has suffered under a deadly curse for generations. Five strangers suddenly find themselves connected by this fatal curse and need to dig into the town’s mysterious and terrible history before it’s too late for each of them. The series will premiere on ABC Family following the annual “Pretty Little Liars” special Halloween episode in October 2013.
Pretty Little Liars has been extremely successful for ABC Family. Its third season finale episode, “A Dangerous Game,” became the first series in television history to amass over one million airtime tweets. Each week the Twitter verse was trending with terms related to the suspenseful show, and it is ABC Family’s most-watched original series viewed by 18-34 year olds.
