We’ve known for a while that Twilight author Stephenie Meyer had decided to not release Midnight SunTwilight from Edward’s perspective – after a good chunk of it leaked. Now she’s offering more insight into her decision.

Meyer told the BBC, while promoting the release of her upcoming the film The Host, that once the Twilight movies began opening in theaters, she couldn’t continue to write Midnight Sun.

“It wasn’t something that I was in the middle of working on,” she said. “It was a project that I had been doing before. But I was working on the movies at that time and finishing up the last novel, and I was able to do that last novel without interference mentally from the film and the actors being the characters. But I could feel it seeping in more and more, and I wasn’t able to really get into the characters completely separate from the movie anymore, so it didn’t really feel like I could write it at that point, because it was a little tainted by that other vision.”

She also said that the initial Midnight Sun leak was an innocent mistake. “I was part of a writers’ group early in, and we all would trade manuscripts, and I think someone made a copy.”

We still think she should try to release Midnight Sun because fans have been clamoring for it. Don’t you?

  • hpatdh33

    Excuses…excuses… she’s just a shitty writer.

    • http://twitter.com/Merina2 Merina

      No need to be rude…

  • RussellTurner

Shes needs to suck up and finish!

  • Jeff Dodge

    Now she’s blaming the movies?

  • Megan

No, not really. Although it was interesting what she wrote, it would be a completely different Edward than what it would be. She said Twilight affected her writing, just think what four other movies would do. So, I say we just let it rest in peace and continue on from the twilight saga.

  • http://twitter.com/fluflu44 Mandy Brennan

Really?! I’ve waited since 2008 for an update on Midnight Sun and this is what I get?! It makes no sense! How did the movie “taint” HER characters? The movies are not her vision, it’s the directors and so forth. This is bull. She blamed someone on set for leaking MS and the movies weren’t even out then! I’m about to loose respect for an author who can’t even connect to her characters because of a movie. Maybe she needs to read the graphic novels she help create because those are a million times better than the movies.

    • Daughter of Eve

Didn’t she also urge fans to not look at the leaked content and wait for the released, full book?

      • http://twitter.com/fluflu44 Mandy Brennan

Yes, but then she posted the content online.

    • 7Starrchasers

In all fairness…it happens all the time to readers…they either read the books first, watch the movies and start picturing the actors as the characters in their heads, or vice versa…so it could have happened to her the same way. I’ve waited for Midnight Sun too and this is really disappointing but maybe its her way of saying that she’s just really sick of the Twilight universe? I dunno I’m just throwing things out there.

      • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

I agree with you. I think that’s what’s behind it. I think she’s just not interested, motivated or inspired by this story anymore.

    • http://twitter.com/AntaraC Antara Chowdhury

She’s the first author I’ve ever heard say that the movie version tainted her vision of her characters. Book series get turned into movies and TV shows all the time, and authors always say that they don’t let those adaptations affect how they write.

Also, she’s definitely lying about something, because I remember back then that she said someone on set had leaked Midnight Sun. And now she’s saying someone in a writers’ group leaked it. I don’t particularly care that she’s never completing the book, but I feel bad for fans who’ve been waiting all these years for it.

      • Divya

The writing of the last 3 HP books and the filming of the first four HP films took place almost simultaneously. And one did NOT affect the other in any way whatsoever. Just saying – book 7 and film 5 got released in the same month itself (July 2007).

Meyer – it IS completely possible for a writer to be unaffected by the screen adaptations of their previous work.

Shit excuse for a shit writer.

        • CliveRogan

“one did NOT affect the other in any way whatsoever.”

Can I borrow your Parallel Universe Machine? I assume you have one as you know exactly what the Harry Potter books are like in a universe without the films.

For one thing, One definitely did affect the other, as the books inspired the films remember. We have literally no way of knowing if the books were affected by the films, JK’s no Hack and had established the way the story was going to go in advance but to say she can’t have been even mildly affected by the way the films handled the stories given how hands on she was in the film writing process is a joke.

          • Sam

I really don’t think she was affected by the films. For one, she didn’t want to be as involved with the production of the films as Meyer was for Twilight… Jo just made sure that nothing was too far off from the main story. Also, I personally find the characters’ personalities in the books different than the “film versions” of them… and they stay very consistent throughout all seven books so its obvious she didn’t go from writing about Harry, Ron etc to Dan, Rupert.

          • CliveRogan

I do agree to be honest, I’m mostly just playing devil’s advocate. I don’t believe JK would lose track of who her characters were just because they were being portrayed slightly differently elsewhere.

But it must have been there in the back of her mind, that these characters would have different outcomes in film and that she could have reacted accordingly.

        • Abbie Owen

Yeh but Midnight Sun is the Twilight book from Edward’s point of view. Therefore Twilight (the movie) is going to effect Stephenie Meyer’s vision of Midnight Sun a lot more than the first 4 films of HP probably did for JK Rowling when she was writing the last 3 books of HP, because the last 3 books are different stories to the first 4 films. If that makes sense? Haha… I don’t know.

      • http://www.hypable.com/author/lauracristiano/ LauraBC

I can tell you without hesitation that she never said it was someone on set, merely that she knew how it happened. People assumed it was someone on set because Rob had read part of it to get into character, but she never specified up until now specifically what happened.

      • Dacia

I remember that to and I’m with you on that.

    • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

Not that I care about Midnight Sun, but in Meyer’s defense, she was awfully involved in the making of the movies. Seems that, by the time she was ready to get back to MS, one thing had replaced the project. I also think she lost interest after the leak, and that’s why the movies/actor were able to seep in and replace her written characters. But, I agree, it sounds bad either way. LOL!

    • http://www.hypable.com/author/lauracristiano/ LauraBC

I can tell you without hesitation that she never said it was someone on set, merely that she knew how it happened. People assumed it was someone on set because Rob had read part of it to get into character, but she never specified up until now specifically what happened.

  • Smeyer is an idiot

What’s she going to blame next? A werewolf ate the manuscript. She’s a shit writer. Plain and simple.

  • http://twitter.com/emilyecstasyTM Emily Bryan

LOL WHAT. I can’t even take that statement seriously. What author cannot separate her own vision of the characters from the actors? Lolz whatever. She’s just stingy. And what’s sad is that I enjoyed the little bit of Midnight Sun that is out more than Twilight. I’m never going to drop wanting the whole series from Edward’s perspective (and yes, I know that’s such a long shot it’s impossible xD) because I find his POV interesting. And I’m one of those people who hates not being able to finish a book/series, so imagine my annoyance that we aren’t able to get the rest of Midnight Sun. I would drop money fast for a published Midnight Sun.

    • PotionWillow207

Ummm, she would make millions of dollars off of writing Midnight Sun and selling it. So how does not writing it make her stingy? If you want the whole series from Edward’s point of view then quit whining and write fan fiction. People do it with Harry Potter.

If you hate not being able to finish a book or series then you shouldn’t have started reading Midnight Sun to begin with. When she posted the leaked material Stephenie said right out that it would be a long time until she got back to it, IF EVER. We knew it was going to be a long shot from the very beginning.

    • Jj Rowell

      ME TOO!!@!!!

  • Cristina M

She actually says some really nice things about JKR later on in the interview, and revealed her son is a hp freak and that got him into reading.

  • LunaLovegood

Really , she was’nt able to write cause of the films, what kind of an excuse is that. J.K Rowling wrote most of her books while there were still filming the movie. J.K Rowling had written longer and better books than Stephine Myer who just wrote four . I am a Twi Heart but I just don’t see that as a proper excuse.

    • PotionWillow207

I wish people would stop saying that Jo did it, so this must be an excuse. Stephenie isn’t Jo. They have totally different experiences with their books and movies. Just because both are popular writers doesn’t mean their life or career paths have to be exactly parallel. If she doesn’t want to write the books she doesn’t have to. And I wouldn’t want a book from an author who didn’t want to write anyway.

      • LunaLovegood

It feels that she not writing for the fun and enjoyment of it .Its like she
wants to squeeze everything out of the Twilight franchise to make money. The handcover books, the graphic novels, movies and now the talks of a Tv Show .I guess now she is a writer , producer and director .I think she should just know when to stop and leave it be .

        • PotionWillow207

That makes no sense. She is stopping. That’s what the article is about. That she’s not going to finish the book and have it published. Did you read the article at all? How do you gather that she’s making money by NOT finishing the book?

        • Emily

If she wanted to make a bunch of money she WOULD be finishing and publishing it. She IS writing for the fun and enjoyment but because her manuscript was leaked and because of everything surrounding that, the enjoyment of writing it was sucked away for her. She could easily just make a million by writing whatever and publishing it, but she isn’t.

      • Shellisa

Indeed. I totally agree with you.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1840730980 Michael Vartanian

I feel that Midnight Sun would just be redundant as Edward’s past and motives are revealed throughout the rest of the series. Unless his perspective offers up some mind-boggling revelation, I wouldn’t see the point in releasing the novel. After all, it’s the mysterious factor that makes mysterious characters so appealing.

    • http://www.facebook.com/joel.emmett Joel Emmett

I disagree. I think it’s really appealing to guys. And it was well written, especially for a first draft. I do think it would have been very loooong (which would have been awesome), because the vamps think so much and so quickly. But I really think it was her masterpiece, and it’s an extraordinary tragedy that it will never be completed.

      • Kay

Guys would not be interested in it at any point. It’s Twilight. You can argue there are guys that read Twilight. How many? Few. And not being discriminatory, a lot are gay. Gay men tend to be more into the arts as a hobby and read a wide variety of literature, movies, theater, etc. I know it is totally and completely stereotypical, but stereotypes from from commonalities. I am sure you would find more gay men in the Twilight universe and more straight guys in that of Die Hard, etc.

        • PotionWillow207

And you know all of this how? You have the demographic information for the franchise? I think it’s a good thing that Stephenie won’t bow to the fans’ whining to finish the book if her heart isn’t in it, but when people make blanket assumptions like this it’s ridiculous and kind of disturbing.

        • Merina

Hang on a second. Just because they’re gay, doesn’t mean they aren’t real guys. I find it concerning that you would insinuate such a belief. Joel said that some guys like Twilight, and he’s right; even if a lot of them are gay. Why should their sexuality dictate whether they count as guys or not?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Maria-Wang/542480760 Maria Wang

*rolls eyes. I care much more about the more than likely cancelled HP Encyclopedia than this.

    • Jeff Dodge

Not to get too off topic, but I doubt the HP encyclopedia is cancelled. To me, it’s obvious that they’re waiting for Pottermore to be done through to the last book, then some time after that, she’ll announce the encyclopedia.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=646947665 Megan Slife

I’d sacrifice Midnight Sun for the HP Encyclopedia.

    • LONGLIVEHarryPotter

      Your brilliant Megan!

      • BritAngel

        I second the motion :-)

    • addie

lol i dont know HP is amazing

  • Janelle

She needs to stop whining and just finish the book already! Out of respect for her fans she needs to finish the book! After all it’s because of us that she is so rich and famous!

    • PotionWillow207

She needs to stop whining?!? Have you read all the comments on this article? Did you read what you said? Pots and kettles, friend. Pots and kettles.

  • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Ride that river of tears straight to bank, Meyer.

  • Izzy_Lee

To tell you the truth, I always suspected that Robert Pattinson was the one who leaked the script, just so he wouldn’t have to do more movies.

    • http://www.facebook.com/lizzie.belikov Liz Gisela Chim

That makes no sense, now whoy would an actof have the manuscript when maybe he didn’t even know that she was making another book.. and if so how the hell did he got a hold of it..it’s not like there where giving them away..so if it was leaked maybe someone trying to make a quick buck or just wanted to mess with stephanie meyer…

      • stargazer

Robert Pattinson said himself that Stephenie Meyer gave him a copy of Midnight Sun so that he could get more into the character of Edward. Thus, he did know she was making another book, and he did in fact have a copy of it. So he could have leaked the manuscript, or someone on set who knew that Robert had the manuscript could have slipped it away and made a copy, or someone from her writing club could have made a copy. If no one comes forth and confesses, then it’s hard to pin down a culprit.

      • PotionWillow207

She gave him a copy. That’s common knowledge among the fandom since both Rob and Stephenie said that she gave him one to help him understand the character better.

    • CliveRogan

It was leaked before the first movie though right? so if he didn’t want to be in more movies he at that point didn’t have to be in any.

    • Sheechiibii

Midnight Sun is the same story as Twilight though, so there is no chance they could make a movie of it. Also, he got the manuscript before the first film, so if he didn’t want the job he wouldn’t have taken it.

  • Samma

    JKR managed it just fine.

    • Dacia

      Sure did!!!

  • Sher

She made the money she wanted now she doesn’t need the fans.

  • Ash

    Whaaaaaaaaaaa

  • http://twitter.com/RachelgurlFL Rachel Gay

    lame!!! just finish it

  • Making Sense

Another reason that I think she should finish Midnight Sun is that it gives Summit a chance to “redo” Twilight. At the time it was made it was a “low budget” film and it comes across that way. In comparison to the later movies which were bigger budget, the original could use some updating. The thing is though, they will need to do it soon before the actors get too old to appear similar to their appearance in the original.

  • Glaciusx

You’re just a shit writer, okay. The movies didn’t do SHIT.

  • http://twitter.com/Lauren_Chapin Lauren Chapin

She just doesn’t know how to write a character that she can’t put herself in/project onto….

    • thatonegirl

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS. bravo.

  • Divya

Oh please…JKR wrote the last 3 HP books while the films (on the first four books) were being made simultaneously. In fact, HP book#7 and HP film#5 were released in the same month itself (July 2007). Did she ever say “Oh look what they did to poor Ron – he only makes funny faces in the earlier movies…what should I do??? *MY* Ron has been ruined by all the Harry/Hermione shippers…boo hoo!!”

Meyer – shit excuse for a shit writer, really!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/sarah.oppenheim.9 Sarah Oppenheim

While I do think that Stephenie Meyer is a terrible writer, to be honest, she has no obligation to anyone to finish anything. An author is not bound by what the fans want, she is her own person and can write what she wants.

    • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

      Indeed.

  • ket

That’s is the exact reason why Rick Riordan refuses to watch the Percy Jackson movie.

  • http://twitter.com/dreamfall31 Kevin Slechta

So Twilight was the cause of stopped creation of more Twilight??? Even the series hates itself!

  • daff

guess that proves how much of terrible author she is lol Queen Rowling managed it fine, she wrote 3 books during her franchises adaptation, Hell even Stephen King writes and writes and writes and a shit load of his stuff has been filmed, though to be fair he doesn’t really have series/sets of books most of his stories are stand alone..

  • http://willywonka-andthe-gingerfactory.tumblr.com/ John B. McLean

Do people even care about Twilight anymore?!?!?!

    • http://twitter.com/Merina2 Merina

      Yes.

      • http://willywonka-andthe-gingerfactory.tumblr.com/ John B. McLean

Can anyone really deal with another overly long novel by (for lack of a better word) novelist who can’t write at all?

        • Merina

          Yes.

          • http://willywonka-andthe-gingerfactory.tumblr.com/ John B. McLean

Meyer has no literary merit and cannot craft an interesting story. I highly doubt anything she ever rights will gain any traction now that her one time series which only gained readers because of a fad is over and done with! Thank God!

          • Merina

I repeat my statement for the third time: Yes, people still care. Even if they only consist of myself, ten friends of mine, and a couple of Twitter followers. We are people. We still care.

          • Merina

            *writes

Please, do continue to insult Twilight and its author as much as you please. But I stand by my original statement: yes, there are still fans out there and yes, they still care.

          • http://willywonka-andthe-gingerfactory.tumblr.com/ John B. McLean

Then the number of fans is not enough or the publication company would have told her to write it and she would have. It is my belief that the only reason why she didn’t release it was because she didn’t think enough people would go out an buy it because after the release of the fourth book and the first movie twilight became a joke that was merely something to be laughed at.

          • Merina

I never said that she would write it, should write it, could right it, couldn’t write it. I just said that there were still Twilight fans out there that cared.

I fail to understand what you are trying to argue with me, here.

  • Kellers80

I think it’s a poor excuse. I love the books, the movies and the soundtracks. But her reasons for not completing “Midnight Sun” are rediculous. Just admit you feel defeated and un-inspired because a chunk has been leaked and you’re focusing on other things.

    • PotionWillow207

She did, at the very beginning, and the fans still whined about it. No matter what she says the fans will whine.

  • http://www.facebook.com/michael.burson.7 Michael Burson

Jo Rowling has said she never had any of the actors enter her mind when she was writing the later books, except for Evanna Lynch, and let’s face it, she’s Luna anyway. Maybe Meyer just needs a better mental grasp on her own characters.

  • Christine

I always suspected that Rob inadvertently was responsible for the Midnight Sun leak. She said she let him read it for insight into Edward. I can just imagine him forgetting it somewhere. lol

  • manviln

I would have sacrificed the movies for Midnight Sun.

    • hepzibah.smith

      Yes, absolutely!

    • Jj Rowell

Yeah, the movies were a big disappointment

  • Melissa

I hope she will still finish it.

  • Lindsey

    Riiiiiight…..

  • http://www.facebook.com/lizzie.belikov Liz Gisela Chim

Heck yeah I have been waiting to reat it forever..I want to know how does edward feel whan him and bella first kiss?? when he sees her hur??t what are the conversations and the feelings of the cullens?? But must of all how does he feel every minute of eveymoment he is with bella.

  • stargazer

Lots of people are saying, “How can you let the actors get into your head? She’s not skilled enough!”

From a reader’s perspective: When I read Harry Potter now, there are some scenes where Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint pop into my head, and it annoys me so much that I’ve taken a sabbatical from reading Harry Potter. Imagine being a writer, when suddenly the unemotional face of Bella Swan as played by Kristen Stewart pops into your head. That would annoy me too.

From a writer’s perspective: I write books for fun (okay, a single book that I’ve self-published and doesn’t exactly have a fan base, but I’m working on more!), and I have a friend who also writes from time to time.

My friend’s approach to creating the physical aspects of a character is to think of the basics, then find a picture online, and BAM! that becomes the character. If the picture is from an actor in a tv show or movie, they also take on some of the emotional traits and mannerisms of that tv show/movie character. It happens so gradually that I don’t think she notices she’s copying.

For me, my characters just kind of grow and evolve in my brain–I’m not even that good at writing down character profiles/outlines in a brainstorm format because they always seem to be lacking something. Every once in a while I try looking up pictures online (creating imaginary “book trailers” in my head or in preparation for actually creating a book trailer–since I’m self-published I need to take care of all that stuff on my own), but each time I think, “That’s not him. That’s not her. Not right! Not right! Not right!” If my characters ever become the pictures that I looked up, I think I might as well die.

So, since Stephenie Meyer was so involved in the creation of the movies, as she was, I can see that it would become a problem for her, especially if she’s not as able to visualize things as some other people. Some people are good at visualization, and some need tools and images to help them along. If Stephenie’s good at letting all the visual images she sees in her life seep into her subconscious and uses them as she writes, then I can see how the actors’ faces would seep into her as she’s writing as well (kind of like my friend). And if she’s anything like me, having those faces seep in just about killed her and probably killed her desire to write Midnight Sun. (But, out of respect for her fans and out of a desire to finish a story she started, she finished Breaking Dawn)

  • http://twitter.com/belinda_nzims ♡ LadyBlu RPattz ♡

Stephenie is being unreasonable and inconsiderate. I’ve been waiting for four years for MS and this is the crap I get? Her “insight” makes no sense. How can she say she is unable to seperate the book characters with the actors when she is the one who created the characters??? Gosh. Talk about a let down.

  • http://twitter.com/Merina2 Merina

Can we quit with all the hateful insults, guys?

Yeah, it’s not the excuse most of us were hoping for. Yeah, most of us may find it a bit ridiculous. Yeah, most of us agree that she’s not a great writer.

But that’s no reason to attack this poor lady so incessantly! Let’s quit wasting our lives away constructing spectacular insults for a middle-aged mum who, at the end of the day, has every right to release her own writing when and how she wants.

  • Lotte

I remember being devastated that she postponed MN indefinitely.

Now, I couldn’t care less. Most certainly grew apart from the Twilight Saga. Nowadays I am Team ‘Bella should have ditched both and gone to college’.

But S. Meyer really doesn’t do herself any favor Those ‘excuses’ of not finishing the story have been silly the first time and did not change this time. My guess: she simply lost interest. Great way to repay for her fanbase who are responsible for millions of dollars.

  • LONGLIVEHarryPotter

She is a special kind of idiot, a sub parr writer who got famous because her books turned to movies only after HP was completed and the world needed a new obsession, she is ridiculous saying the actors taint her characters, sorry I’m not a fan of Kirsten Stewart but I think the actors did a good job being the characters, especially rob pat as Edward.
Seriously Stephanie Meyers get over yourself, PLEASE!
You don’t want to write Midnight Sun because your honestly bored and can’t really think of a way to make it any more mediocre than you did Twilight book, so drop the act and just say the truth you don’t want to write it. The end big freakin deal. She is a completely prat.

    • PotionWillow207

You really don’t know anything about the series, do you? The books were popular a long time before the movies came out.

  • hepzibah.smith

I think Midnight Sun would have been the best Twilight book. Ever since I read the part on her website, I’ve been hoping for the rest of it. The excuse seems a bit forced, as well… This is a big letdown – almost as annoying as the HP encyclopedia…

  • PotionWillow207

Wow. After reading all these comments, I wouldn’t be surprised if Stephenie said the FANS were the cause of her not finishing Midnight Sun. And I bet that secretly she does feel that way, even if she doesn’t say it outright. Twilight has the whiniest fan base of any I’ve ever seen/been a part of. Everyone acts like they’re entitled to every bit of Twilight-related information that pops into Stephenie’s head, like she owes them something. It’s pathetic.

    • PotionWillow207

I would also like to point out that I find it absolutely hilarious that the same fans who have a conniption every time someone compares Twilight to Harry Potter in any way are now comparing Stephenie to Jo, saying that if Jo can write during the movies then Stephenie can. “Wow,” is the only thing I can say. Just wow.

  • Jill

I didn’t even know this Midnight Sun thing existed. From Edwards point of view? That sounds interesting. I would buy it but I agree, the HP Encyclopedia would be much better.

  • Hailey plyler

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes pleeeaaassseee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/leif.estrada Leif Estrada

as a writer, how could your view of your Twilight world be tainted by that of the movie… ehem, ehem… why dont you tell that to Jo… HP has been on longer and when book 1 was turned into a film, we only had 4 books… we didnt hear a complain from her that she started seeing Dan Radcliffe as Harry… i mean, Twilight came as a dream to her… not like she was creative…

  • BritAngel

And I bet she calls herself a good writer LOL!

  • WhatTheGrace

All the fans of HP are always going on about “DON’T COMPARE TWILIGHT TO HARRY POTTER” Yada yada yada but these same people have no problem with saying that if JK Rowling can do something, then so can Stephanie Meyer?

I’m a fan of both series, in fact i adore Harry Potter but i like them both it and Twilight for different reasons and know not to compare them as they are two completely different stories but honestly you can never win with Potter fans, it’s rather annoying! If you don’t like Twilight or Stephanie or her writing, why do you view posts that concern Twilight etc.?
    It makes no sense!

  • twilight lover

I want midnight sun please I need another twilight please

  • Desiree

please do it but for edwards perspective its just the series all over agin but in someone else’s eyes i want a movie that continues renesmie and jacob and the whole family together forever i want to see more not it all over again sorry…..

  • twilight fan

I think we should boycott all things stephenie meyer until she finishes midnight sun!

  • michele

Yes she’s a good writer but us the fan’s made her famous and to leave us hanging isn’t wright at all. She should finish it for her loyal fans that have been waiting a very long time!!!! She should start a new novel with Jacob and rensme

    • Sheechiibii

Well to be fair to her it’s not as if we don’t all know what happens in Midnight Sun. I wouldn’t call that leaving us hanging.

  • FireflyGirl

For the most part, I can see how this has happened to her. I think it’s happened to a lot of fans, seeing as how so many people I know see a picture of Rob Pattinson or Kristen Stewart and call them “Edward” or “Bella.” I’ve read the MS draft a number of
times (I actually like it a LOT more than Twilight) and I try every time NOT to see Rob and Kristen in my head and it is really difficult. It drives me nuts! I like the graphic novels a lot because they do a really good job of helping me “revisualize” Bella and Edward. I can
only imagine how difficult it is for Stephenie, seeing as how she worked with those two a LOT,
discussing characterization, and trying to get them to BE Edward and Bella
as much as possible. I’m sure she needs a break.

BUT…all that being said, if she never even entertains the idea of working on MS again, I think I’ll go ahead and call it a cop-out. If she gave it some time and spent more time in her own head again, the issue might work itself out. If she never approaches this work again, I would say it’s an excuse. Rob and Kristen gave are a totally different interpretation of Edward and Bella. If Stephenie were able to get back to HER characters, I think she might find it easier.

I’m more interested in seeing her finish the other two Host books she teased us with at this point! That book was awesome – my husband even got into that one. Give her time to come back to MS when she can enjoy it and do it justice, and lets see what happens with Wanderer and Melanie instead!

  • Ally

Please please please finish and release it. It had been a while and people are still dying for it. It’s a great book and we all want to read it. However re-read your books listen to the way they speak to you not the way the movie does.

Honestly I cannot even believe that we are trying to compare JK Rowling to Stephenie Meyer? Rowling has proved herself as a real novelist with actual talent. Meyer has only proved that she saw a fad as it was about to explode and become what every fifteen year old girl and gay teenager (myself included) wanted to read a wrote a WAY below average “novel.” The Host was a TOTAL failure. That’s why there wasn’t a continuation in the series. Meyer uses bullshit excuses to say why she doesn’t go forward with her writing when in reality it’s because she isn’t dedicated to anything other then her bank account and she needs to be told by her publication studio tells her when and what she can publish. It’s awful, stop wasting peoples time and money by being a publication compony created author and leave the publishing world for authors with a little bit of talent.

  • Ridi

PLEASE! PLEASE!! PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!!! Write the novel I M STILL WAITING FOR IT!! hoping the novel to be finished!! Just please do it for your fans’ sake !!

  • Lack of Authorship

I’m sorry but she is a terrible writer. The Host was horrendous. Everything falls short. Ironically I thought the draft of Midnight Sun was the best “novel” she’s ever written. Her ideas are good. And honestly, if it was another author who loved her creations/characters as much as she claimed she did/does then the series wouldn’t have fallen short and she would’ve completed Midnight Sun. End of discussion.

  • Dani

I think she should just finish it, so that she could just close the twilight saga all together. Because what it seems like she is doing is leaving it open for more. So if Stephenie is tired of the saga, then finish the book and say no more vampires. Don’t leave Midnight Sun open that is a waste creativity in my opinion.

On this website are the complete versions of all books from edwards vision.
You wont see the difference between meyer or this writer cause they are 99% the same! :D

  • Lucy Finnegan

I am so gutted that she’s not finishing it, it’s by far my favourite of her books even though it’s not finished

  • Sakura Yamatochi

    make the movie.

  • Dacia

Honestly I would rather she not have given us a glimpse of Midnight Sun and leave us wanting. How cruel!!! Sorry guys I can be a little over dramatic but, really Stephenie I don’t really buy that whole “tainted” thing. You’re a writer that just completed an awesome series you can do better than that. She should just come flat out and say, “I have no interest in writing it” and leave it at that. Ok I’m done :)

  • rick

wow. you guys really need a life

  • rick

To allow yourselves to become so far gone on any series shows that you have passion, but not for life. You allow yourselves to become so immersed into a fictional series that you give the appearance of not having a true life of your own. And to critisize an author for a change in feeling of her fictional characters is petty. She can write a new book to kill them all off if she chose. Think about that one.

  • giddykitty101

i would love for Midnight Sun to come out i read a little of the book on stephenie Myer’s website and i adored it i really think she should finish it.

  • MButterfly831

Stephanie. If you can ever get back to creating the rest of Midnight Sun I am sure all of your Twilight fan would love to read it. I never saw the leaked version and I never read it on your website. I would love to read the book in person. Good luck ~Awaiting anxiously

  • Harley Flamez

I would love for twilight to go on. I feel like im left haging in a way, I want to see more of bellas life as a vampire and i wanna see renessme grown up and involved with jacob. I wanna see the rest . i would hope that midnight sun is about that and hope to see a movie.

  • charrlotte

please release it, you are awesome and this is this first time I got so into a book or movie

  • tabitha

yes I think should make all seven of the twilight and I think she should forgive and make the twilight movie and don’t take from the twilight fans because am one of them

  • Shonda

So will Midnight Sun ever get finished and what about the buzz over a movie?

  • Kura

I love Midnight Sun ….. I can literally read it over & over. I want her to finish the book SO SO SO bad. A movie would be nice too :) It was nice reading the story from Edwards view. It gave you a chance to get to know the Cullens.

  • Kura

I also think they should redo all of the movies and keep the scripts exactly like the book. The books are better than the movies.

  • Alyssa

I think she should continue it because it would be really cool to see Edwards point of view on how things went and on his life so we can learn more about him. I’m a big fan and i would love to read her book Midnight Sun and i’m praying that she does finish it because it would be really awesome to read it and i have been waiting for the release of it but she still hasn’t continues it ;(

  • Crystal

Yes she should release midnight sun it wouldn’t be right not to see what happens with bella’s and eward’s baby and Jacob if they get married or what but yeah I been dying to see the end of the new movie

  • Heather Parker-Scott

Ok, if it is to hard for her to do the story from Edward’s side since the movie, my question would be why doesn’t she turn it into a follow up about Renesme & Jacob & what truely becomes of them. I know as a true twi-hard it would get rid of the nagging want to know…

  • Paige

there needs to be another Twilight! Twilight is the best movie ever!

  • brittany

heart broke to read this. twilight has grown into this awesome love story and ive become in love with the idea of all of it. i still have my fingers crossed she will finish the book and keep the stories going. sure is better then harry potter in my eyes

  • chrislene21

this is the lamest excuse i’ve heard from an author…sorry! but i think you better have a better reason than that…

  • crystal

dose anyone know when the book comes out

  • Chris hodum

I’d really like to read midnight sun I hope she sells it. I’d stand on line at midnight to but it like all the others.

  • Maria Eduarda Emmerich

there has to be another movie like midnight sun more

  • jazzie413

if u wasn’t going to finish the book or the movie why even start them in the first place because now there are more people that want to see what happens like me i really did like the movies and would like to see how the movie plays out for Jake and Renesme because how the last braking dawn ended i would like to see if the volturi is going to try to come between them or if there is another person or set of people that want to after the cullens i know that you said what you said but don’t you think you owe it to the fans to show and give them more of what they got

  • thalia delpinoalvarez

What? A writers group leaked it?
    But she said!
All these years sense 2008 to read this book and its not being finished because of this?!
Like really is this real life?

  • c

I think you should come out with one more movie so we can see how Jacob and the child life turn out.

  • stephanie
