Grey DeLisle recently spoke to fans of The Legend of Korra, and revealed additional details about her work on season 2 of the animated series.

A few crumbs of new information about The Legend of Korra season 2 have come out of this past weekend’s Emerald City Comic-Con. Voice actress Grey DeLisle (the memorable voice behind Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s Princess Azula) attended Emerald City Comic-Con, and mentioned to a lucky fan that she would be voicing three characters in The Legend of Korra season 2. In addition to her role as the still-mysterious “Dark Spirit,” DeLisle will provide the voice of “the younger version of an established character” who was the victim of a traumatic event. (No information was given as to the identity of DeLisle’s third character.)

The established character in question has set fans buzzing with speculation as to her identity. A popular theory offers that DeLisle may be voicing a younger Lin BeiFong, who bears three prominent (and unexplained) scars on her cheek, in addition to being jilted by Tenzin as a young woman. It is also possible that the character is Korra’s mother Senna (younger designs for both Senna and Korra’s father Tonraq have been produced for season 2), or Asami Sato, who lost her own mother at a young age. As with so many of the details of The Legend of Korra season 2, the specifics currently remain a mystery.

One other small Korra mystery has been cleared up by one of the show’s co-creators, however. Bryan Konietzko recently reblogged a stylized portrait of Korra’s uncle Unalaq with his son Desna and his daughter, whose previously-unknown name Konietzko revealed to be Eska. Tangentially, this means that Alyson Stoner’s reported character of “Opal” is not the female “Creepy Twin,” and possibly increases the likelihood that Opal will not appear until season 3 of The Legend of Korra.

    im betting on Lin BeiFong

  • Me

I hope (and am quite certain) that it is Lin. God, what a character.

  • Raven

Season 2*or pick the words Book 3* not season 3 thank you there is only two seasons. and book two is second half of season 1 :)

    • http://twitter.com/Jazmyne92 Jasmine

Season 1 is all of Book 1. It was meant to be one season only, before it got high ratings. Then Nick renewed it for 3 more seasons, making it 4 Books in all.

      • Toby

Actually Raven is right. Book 1 and 2 will comprise all of Season 1 and Books 3 and 4 will be the entirety of Season 2

I dont know why, but i think is Asami

  • CD

I’m going with Lin too, just based on her voice. Grey and Seychelle’s voices are too different, and Lin has a little bit of the nasalness that Azula does.

    • Fanzellino

Grey played Azula, but I’m sure you knew that. I want to agree, but Ms. DeLisle has an amazing range. she has like 500 TV credits or something, so it could be anyone.

  • .

It might be Mako or Bolin, to be honest. I don’t think they’d have a guy play characters that are so young.

    • Fanzellino

I don’t think they’d have a woman play a boy. they were adamant about not doing that in the original show, and they poked fun at other sows for doing that in The Ember Island Players.

  • Alizarine Bloodleaf

I’m pretty sure Lin BeiFong was a super hot young lady before she became the grumpy (but still awesome) cop she was in season 1

Am I the only one who STILL wants to know what happened to Zuko’s mother?!?!?

    • http://twitter.com/Jazmyne92 Jasmine

You’re not alone. Apparently, the comic series will address that question in The Search.

      • http://twitter.com/inkasrain Michal

Part One of which will be released in comic book stores on March 20th :-)

Other than that she was banished? Yeah I wonder.

    • Crazy-Eight23

That’s what the books are for…

    • Stephanie Bonilla

the comic book is coming out next week called the search where it focuses on zuko’s mom.

  • Fanzellino

The younger version of an established character is Asami when her mom died.

    (I think)

    • Natasha

      That’s my thought too!

  • Natasha

I’m sorry, but the writer of this article needs to do a little more research about the show and then try again. First, we’re waiting on BOOK 2, not season 2. Season one will be comprised of book 1 and 2, while season 2 will be books 3 and 4.

Second, Lin only has TWO scars on her cheek, not three.

    • http://www.facebook.com/troy.mcmeans Troy McMeans

symantics of using the word “book” in place of “season”. Same difference.

      • Genny

Not really when, since the amount of confusion surrounding the situation, it was clarified that a “Book” was half a season…So it has been explicitly stated that unlike ATLA, the word Book is not a synonym for a season. This was the point user Natasha was trying to make which your comment did not address. Please lets try to be fair when correcting relevant posts.

        • jk

im confused, so why was it said at comic con san diego that nickeloden (quote), “greenlit 3 more seasons for korra”?

          • Natasha

Obviously, because people are stupid and instead of clarifying it like they should have, they decided to give in and just call them all seasons.

  • Filmeditor16

Gee I wonder what lucky fan was that…

  • Sea.Dilemma

You could ask if Grey said anything else…

  • cactusjuice its the quenchiest

She could also be playing a middle aged Katara as she did voice Kya her mother in the first series.

    • http://www.facebook.com/jasmin.ransom Jasmin Ransom

That’s actually a really good theory. It totally could be.

    • Natasha

As much as I like your theory, I find it unlikely. A thirty/forty year old Katara wouldn’t sound that much different from teenage Katara. Mae Whitman has talked about returning to play a voice in LOK and if there is a grown Katara, that’s likely the part she will play. As a voice actress, she likely has the ability to slightly deepen her voice enough to sound like an older version of Katara. If not, it wouldn’t take much computer work to make it happen.

      Also, nice name. XD

  • Jonat

It could totally be Mako, they have female voice actors for male children types all the time.

  • http://www.facebook.com/jasmin.ransom Jasmin Ransom

I’m hoping it’s either Lin or Asami. I’m leaning more toward Lin since she’s liked by more fan than Asami.

  • leilmoon9

I will laugh if it is the younger Kaya

  • Megzilla

Or maybe Opal is Bolin’s mysterious love interest.

  • Cookie

even though the next part to the last airbender is only on comic, i really really want them to make the show of it. It would be such a good series to see what happens after Aang defeats the fire lord……
