As per usual, the official album artwork for Glee confirms the musical numbers to be used in upcoming episodes prior to the songs themselves hitting iTunes. Read on below for the music to be featured in Glee 4×16, “Feud.”
The episode will feature six musical numbers:
These album covers were sourced on the Freegal music library service.
As usual, we’ve got some theories and spoilers to piece together how these songs may be used in the episode. GleekOut Brazil, with its 100% correct track record, continues to share tidbits from its as-yet-unnamed source and it claims the songs will be performed thus:
“How To Be a Heartbreaker” (Marina and the Diamonds) – Rachel Berry and Brody Weston
“Cold Hearted” (Paula Abdul) – Santana Lopez
“I Still Believe/Super Bass” (Mariah Carey/Nicki Minaj) – Blaine Anderson and Sue Sylvester
“Bye Bye Bye/I Want It That Way” (‘N Sync/Backstreet Boys) – Will Schuester and Finn Hudson
“The Bitch Is Back/Dress You Up” (Elton John/Madonna) – Ryder Lynn and Wade “Unique” Adams
“Closer” (Tegan and Sara) – Ryder Lynn and Jake Puckerman
The episode will be all about rivalries and feuding artists, as it’s confirmed that when tensions run high between Will and Finn – presumably Will finds out that Finn kissed Emma – the club turns the tables and sets their teachers an assignment, of “Epic Musical Feuds,” in order for the two men to work out their differences.
What remains to be seen is whether the other “feuding” numbers are simply performances for the assignment or if we will see a few more arguments between the characters. For example, Jake and Ryder may both be singing the recent Tegan and Sara hit “Closer” to Marley (it would be too good to be true for them to be singing it to one another, wouldn’t it?) but we can’t come up with a good theory about what kind of feud Ryder and Unique might have!
However, one stand-off is confirmed – Blaine and Sue will clash when Sue tries to force Blaine back on to the Cheerios. Jane Lynch talked a bit about her upcoming plotline here, saying it’s going to be a “sing-off” and confirming that their number is indeed the Nicki Minaj/Mariah Carey mash-up. Ryan Murphy recently tweeted a picture of a rather sad Cheerio Blaine, so perhaps Sue gets her way – Wetpaint reports that blackmail may be in the cards. What dirt do you think Sue Sylvester has on Blaine Anderson?
Glee episode 4×16, “Feud,” will air on March 14.
