In a Twitter question and answer session with 1book140 yesterday, The Fault in Our Stars author John Green said he wouldn’t mind making an appearance in the book-to-film adaptation directed by Josh Boone.

A Twitter user asked him, “would you ever consider playing hazel’s dad in the movie?” to which Green replied:

For his part, Boone doesn’t seem to want to include Green unless he says he’d like to:

So Green and Boone should talk it out – especially if fans want to see the author take on the role of Hazel’s dad.

No one has been formally cast yet, but the crew is actively searching for people to fill the roles. Naturally, the most sought after positions are Hazel and Gus. Shailene Woodley and Hailee Steinfeld have been confirmed as being under consideration for Hazel. As for Gus, we believe Cameron Monaghan is being looked at. The picture they used is perfect. John, don’t ever change.

I’d love to see a John cameo, but I don’t know that Hazel’s dad is the best choice. That would almost be too distracting, you know? Even if John is super-serious, seeing him so often would pull me out of the film. But a smaller cameo role would be fantastic.

  • Jered Schander

If he was to be in movie, I think he could be the Cancer support group leader.

I would scream in the movie theater if this happened.

Out of all the photos, they chose the one where John balances a stack of paper on his head.
