Christoph Waltz hosted Saturday Night Live last night. Waltz hosted to promote his Oscar nomination for his supporting role in Django Unchained as Dr. King Schultz. The film received four other Oscar nominations. The Oscars will take place on February 24 at 8pm EST/5pm PST. Waltz parodied Django Unchained last night with the sketch “Djesus Uncrossed.” While some religious people may argue that the sketch was in poor taste, it cannot be denied that it was a very well done example of the ridiculous mash-ups that SNL does best.
Alabama Shakes appeared on SNL last night as the musical guest. They performed “Hold On” and “Always Alright.” The former song was released on their 2012 album Boys & Girls. They received Emmy Award nominations for both “Hold On” and Boys & Girls. The prior song, “Always Alright,” was written for the Silver Linings Playbook soundtrack.
