What did you think of tonight’s episode of The Vampire Diaries?! Share your thoughts and watch the promo for “Down the Rabbit Hole” here.

In tonight’s episode, Shane took the gang on a bit of a field trip, visiting a mysterious island (where Boone found the Smoke Monster!) as well as more information about Silas and the cure. It wasn’t exactly smooth sailing for the group, as tensions have been running high for the last few episodes.

Check out the promo for next Thursday’s episode, “Down the Rabbit Hole,” where Twilight star Charlie Bewley will appear:

The description for this episode reads:

CHARLIE BEWLEY FROM “TWILGHT” GUEST STARS AS ONE OF THE FIVE HUNTERS — On the island, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has an ugly run-in with a Hunter named Vaughn (guest star Bewley), and realizes he is one of The Five. Stefan (Paul Wesley) confesses his true feelings about the possibility of becoming human again to Elena (Nina Dobrev). When a stunning new piece of information about the cure is suddenly revealed, it changes the stakes for everyone. Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) helps Bonnie (Kat Graham) recognize what is real and what is an illusion, and Shane (guest star David Alpay) is comforted by a woman from his past, Caitlin (guest star Camille Guaty, “Prison Break”). Back in Mystic Falls, Caroline (Candice Accola) and Tyler (Michael Trevino) find that their attempt to translate the code on the Hunter’s Sword is futile without help from Klaus (Joseph Morgan), who has his own reasons for solving the puzzle. Claire Holt also stars. Chris Grismer directed the episode written by Jose Molina (#414).

Do you think this episode, considering the promotional still featured above, will have anything to do with the worrisome season 4 promotional poster featuring Damon?

The Vampire Diaries returns next Thursday at 8/7c on The CW!

they’re just all so dumb and bad at plans.

    My timeline for this episode:
-Klaroline shipper heart. Broken into a million pieces.
    -Oh, the Delena pain.
-Klaroline heart mended quickly because I cannot quit this ship. I aww’d through that whole scene.

This episode wasn’t as exciting as last week’s. All the scenes involving the cure finding expedition were just sort of painfully dull. Though I did enjoy Rebekah making a very valid point of Elena being responsible for the death of TWO of her brothers. If anyone has a valid reason for hating, it’s definitely Rebekah.

All the scenes with Klaus and Caroline, though. Perfection. Though I did keep yelling at Tyler to just go away; I find him rather unbearable. I just don’t like him…All the feelings though. “Anyone who is capable of love is capable of being saved.”

To be honest, I have no FREAKING clue what happen on that island. The Klaroline scenes were too much. First he hurts her, then he doesn’t save her, AND THEN SHE TELLS HIM THAT SHE KNOWS HE’S IN LOVE WITH HER, then he doesn’t deny it…Like seriously, he started crying. I have to say this, Joseph Morgan is a brilliant actor. I can see why he’s getting his own show!

  • ravenclaw1991

I really enjoyed this one! I really hate Shane though. Seriously. He had Jeremy kidnapped and then tricked Bonnie.. again. I rather liked Rebekah tonight. The Delena drama is really starting to get on my nerves. I don’t want them to break up, but the fighting and debate on whether Elena’s love for him is real or not is getting old. And Caroline! I almost started to cry because I legit thought Klaus was going to let her die.

  • LuneLovegood

I love the Klaroline ship. I know Klaus will have to leave to do the Orginals spin off show but I think he is a brilliant actor and Carline and Klaus belong together. I hope Tyler and Carline break up , cause I’m not a fan of Tyler anymore.

Damon’s open declaration that he doesn’t want to be human makes me think that he’ll turn human, somehow, against his will.

  • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

Damon’s open declaration that he doesn’t want to be human makes me think that he’ll turn human, somehow, against his will. Curious enough, sire bond or not, Elena continues in route toward finding the cure despite of Damon telling her he doesn’t want her to be human again. Elena’s will definitely counts for something, then.

As much as I love Delena, I’m glad Damon stuck to his guns regarding the cure. Unless he really wants the cure for himself (and not JUST because Elena), I don’t think I would want him to take it. I quite enjoy that he made the distinction between how he views vampirism in comparison to Stefan. I’ve been dreading the thought of having Damon turn into Stefan 2.0 just because he is in love now. This episode was a nice reminder that, yep, Damon is still Damon.

(Sorry for the double post below. Edited my post and somehow it showed in a double post. Tried to delete it, but it still there. Conclusion: I suck. No pun intended.)

      • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Tariq

In the books Damon accidentally takes the cure, so I wonder if that’s the same route they’ll take in the show. You never know though, since they’re basically two completely different stories in the same universe with all the changes they’ve made.

        • http://benchpressabear.tumblr.com Joan

          Oooh, interesting…

        • Daughter of Eve

Could you tell us more of the cure in the book vs. the cure on the show? I’m not planning on reading these books at all, so I would like to know out of curiosity.

          • http://forgiveyourmind.tumblr.com/ Tariq

I wish I could but I never finished them. I know Elena gets turned in the first one thought rather than later in the story. I think I’ll finish them and discuss it on Vampire Hype, if you listen to that.

          • Daughter of Eve

Cheers anyway! I am curious now whether if Damon taking the cure will be part of the tv series or not.

First Elena is turned with Damon’s blood and they will have that sire bond. After she dies but then returns as an angel/human. After Stefan goes to search a cure and makes a deal with Kistune Sichini. He goes in a strange place where he is in a danger. He is locked in a prison. Elena, Damon, Bonnie and others go to find Stefan and help him. In the prison they meet an old Kitsune (prisoner). They all will escape from the prison. The old Kitsune gives Elena a bouquet of flowers (one which contained a Black Rose which for Stefan to smell so he could be human again until his brother Damon smelled it first). Damon is very mad that he is a human and goes to nether world with Bonnie using the star ball to meet with the vampire princess. He asks her to turn him into vampire again. She turns him. Damon and Bonnie will be in a danger there. All kitsunes are working for Inari. She is the most powerful Kitsune in the world, and the star ball is hers.
In the Nether World, on the smallest moon, the Elena, Bonnie, stefan, Damon and others will find the star ball in a tree that is in the Fell’s Church (Thomas and Honoria Fell had founded the town and it was called Fell’s Church). Damon is killed when the tree stakes him in the heart while he saves Bonnie from falling to her death. Elena uses her “Wings of Destruction”(as she is half angel) to destroy the tree and star ball, killing Inari. After Elena will realize that Damon dead she will be driven mad. Sage finds Damon in the Dark Dimension, helps him remember who he is, and
lets him use the Mystical Elevator to return to Fell’s Church. To the Dark Moon Damon is battling a phantom. Damon
throws a candle at the phantom, setting it on fire, and Elena reaches
into the creature’s core and pulls out the rose inside, destroying the
phantom. Damon gives Elena his blood to heal her burns.
Now I have a question- what do you think, is this story very complicated? I hate these books as what I’ve described is written in 3 or more volumes and you have to read all this stuff.

          • Daughter of Eve

First of all, wow, thanks for such a detailed summary.

This isn’t the type of series I would be interested to read, but I enjoy watching it as off last season 4, epsidoe 10 (and have subsequently caught up with the show too).

Based on the summary you gave, I am even more unlikely to read the books. They come across as melodramatic. And while the show sometimes is too angsty for me, I like the humour in it, the pace of story-telling and most of the actors, whom I recognise from other parts they’ve played.

I think the books will probably have a better flow, but it feels like the characters are constantly out of the frying pan and into the fire. With the tv series it looks like the story is focusing on the consequences of the actions of the characters rather than just randomly introducing new problems; since season one it feels like it’s a ripple effect that’s lead up to where they all are now.

LOL That is the lightest headstone I’ve ever seen

  • Sarah

Not only was whatever the hell happening on that island super messy and confusing, but I absolutely cannot stand the Delena pain. I’ve come to accept that they will never get to be happy, not even for one freaking day. Therefore, I’ve decided to ignore everything that happened on the island this episode and focus on Klaus and Caroline, because HOLY
S—, those two are amazing actors. I have not been a Klaus/Caroline shipper up to this point, and because he’s getting his own show, I’m guessing they won’t ever get together, but this episode made me actually want it. I think Caroline has a better chance of “saving” him than anyone. Although I don’t know if he really can be saved…

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1297260009 Elise Hammond

Are we sure Elena is actually sired? lol! but when you look at her actions compared to that other girl Damon sired, it doesn’t seem consistent at all. Other than telling her she could drink blood not from the vein, has this sire bond actually done anything?!

Carolaus!! Rebekah character development! shane is a crazy person! like for real I think Shane just got incepted by “Caitlin”.

CRACK THEORY: Silas is resurrected and he is played by nina dobrev dressed as a man a la the first doppelganger!

    • Madeline

OMG I totally laughed when I read your crack theory. That would be the best.

  • http://twitter.com/Super_Lulu1 Lupita

Delena ugh how you break my shipping heart! Part of me wants Damon to take the cure so that he and Elena can be together and have cute little Salvatore babies but another
part me can understand why Damon doesn’t want the cure for himself. After being
a vampire for so much time how can anyone live with all the things they’ve done
as a vampire? When you know that all of the scary things that go bump in the
night are real how can you feel safe as a human ex vampire who can no longer
defend themselves and their families properly?

  • Agrant26

This episode had all the shipping for every character and I loved it. All of the character dynamics were definitely needed after a few weeks of pure chaos. There was Delena, Stebekah, Klaroline, Jeremy and Bonnie, Tyler and Caroline, Tyler and Klaus(not a ship but their scenes were great.), Damon and Shane scenes that were pure Damon Salvatore, and even some Stelena tension. All I’m saying is that it was nice to see all that again.

There were three other things that I thought of this episode:
1-Poor Rebekah. She really is just a broken girl.
2-Shane is actually super creepy. Like going to the loony bin crazy.
3-I thought Caroline was going to actually die and that was going to be the “big death” of the season and I was going to cry. I guess I am really attached to Caroline. Anybody else freak out and think that Caroline was going to die? Could she still be in the running for the death everyone is talking about?

  • Rose

loved Rebekas comment on Damons behind. love Caroline but seriously does she have to almost die…again. Tyler can just go away

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=731070910 Fiolla Korenica

Can someone help me out there? I thought they mentioned a while back that the cure was only for one person, not multiple people?
