A new show, a new witch! A new character will be introduced into The Vampire Diaries universe in April, and she’ll be moving with Klaus to New Orleans for the spin-off The Originals.
The cast keeps growing! We’ve previously reported about the addition of Sophie and Davina to the character list of The Originals, and now we finally have a face to put to the name for at least one of them.
Daniella Pineda will play Sophie, a witch whose magic has been silenced but not snuffed. A leader and a sexy, sharp-tongued social force, she is quietly sowing the seeds of a revolution amongst her peers. Sophie will appear for the first time in The Vampire Diaries episode 4×20 airing April 25, and we’re excited to see how she’ll get along with the rest of the gang in Mystic Falls.
It’s not surprising that they’re bringing a new witch into town, seeing as vampires and witches are basically magnets for each other. The real question is whether or not she’ll be a love interest for one of the Originals! So far we have Cami, Sophie, and the yet-to-be-cast Davina as three new female characters on the show. Which one do you think will be the girl Klaus and/or Elijah set their eyes on?
In case you missed the announcement, the episode that Sophie gets introduced in is also the backdoor pilot for the The Originals, staring Klaus and his sibling(s). They return to the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans — a town he helped build centuries ago — and he is reunited with his diabolical former protégé Marcel. Elijah, intent on helping his self-destructive brother find redemption, must side with Marcel’s enemies in order to keep Klaus in line.
