Jennifer Carpenter has publicly announced that the pre-production of Dexter is well underway, and that fans will be put through an emotional roller coaster for season 8.

Jennifer Carpenter, who is more widely known as Debra Morgan in the hit television drama Dexter, has publicly announced via Twitter that today was the first read-through of the eighth season of the show.

With no surprises that Jennifer could not leak any news, hints or even teases about what we’re about to witness in season 8, we’re sure that more and more developments will arrive in the near future.

But, we can identify that the script has been finalised for the time being and that shooting will commence fairly shortly. It’s also interesting to note that Yvonne Strahovski looks increasingly likely to feature in the eighth season of Dexter after she tweeted:

Vague and almost cryptic, yes, but Dexter is filmed out in LA, and specifically, the majority of filming is shot in Long Beach, CA and not in Miami, where the story is set. With Yvonne arriving along with many of the other cast and crew, we can only hope that Yvonne, known more widely in Dexter as Hannah McKay, will return for the eighth season.

Yvonne played a pivotal role in season 7 as the core character behind season 7′s primary theme, love. Her character, Hannah McKay, falls in love with Dexter and the seventh season ended on unfinished business between Hannah and Dexter. Season 8 should bring some formal closure to their relationship, whether is blossoms or withers.

We hope that Jennifer Carpenter’s tweet is the first of many regarding upcoming behind the scenes news about Dexter and wish for the official announcements to arrive fairly soon.

Dexter returns on June 30 over on Showtime.

Getting more excited by the day. Can there be a Dexter Podcast closer to the date? I’ll volunteer to be on.

I’ll do everything in my power to make this happen! Can’t promise you anything though.

Jennifer Carpenter also tweeted this reply to Yvonne Strahovski:

    Jennifer carpenter ‏@J2thecarpenter
Welcome home!!!! RT“@Y_Strahovski: Back in LA…. ahhhh yes….”

I think the initial reports said Hannah was rumored as a two season character. So I really hope Yvonne is coming back.

Yvonne arriving in LA could just be because she lives there. I still really hope she comes back to the show for season 8.

As much as I wish Yvonne came back to LA just to be on Dexter, I really don’t think Dexter had anything to do with it. More of a coincidence. Golden Boy just ended after 3/4 months. I think her return to LA was bound to happen since she lives there. It just happens to be when Dexter is beginning to film. Though, it would be awesome if she was in season 8 for a few episodes (or the whole season).

That is a good point. Hopefully we’ll find out if she’s coming back soon.

I already find Dexter exhausting, in large part due to the fact that Jennifer Carpenter is one of the worst actresses I have ever had the displeasure to watch butcher a good show.

Shes amazing. She shined in season 7

All of the fans who clearly have no idea what good acting actually looks like is one of the reasons Dexter has become so terrible. When a fanbase is so in support of an incestual relationship happening, it really makes me question whether I want to continue to be a part of it.

I don’t necessarily agree with that, I think if anything she’s one of the most underrated actresses on the primetime American drama scene. The incestual relationship was a storyline that was killed off relatively early in season seven, but had significant purpose to it.

But hey ho, can’t please everyone I guess.

I in no way feel that we have heard the last of this Deb/Dexter creepiness. Now that they have this massive secret between the two of them (LaGuerta) after the season finale, I feel like it may drive them into each other’s arms. Gross. I also don’t understand how so many people like the character of Deb. She literally does nothing but curse (which still doesn’t sound natural after a million seasons) and make overly dramatic facial expressions.

Ok we get it, you don’t like Jennifer Carpenter, most of us do. Honestly its not incest, Dexter was adopted. Yes, it’s weird, but really there have been weirder things on tv. Like Carrie from Homeland having sex with her suspect(also a known terrorist)

Oh, sorry I’m actually responding in a rational and calm way to other people’s opinions. Intelligent people can have back and forth conversations with completely differing feelings about something. Guess I should just curse and type in all caps instead of trying to have a reasonable dialogue. The “Dexter was adopted” argument is completely invalid. They have been raised their whole lives as if they were related and therefore have the same relationship that siblings who are blood-related do. Therefore her spontaneous and absolutely out of nowhere sexual attraction to Dexter is just as inappropriate. And as a watcher of Homeland, I absolutely agree that that relationship is super-messed up as well. Maybe we should be asking why we are all so down with these super dysfunctional situations.
