As per usual, album covers for the digital release of Glee‘s weekly music give us the official word on what songs will be featured in the show’s upcoming episodes. You can find the details of tracks to be used in “Diva” below.

The episode will feature seven songs, with eight singles being released:

Glee gossip site GleekOutBR offers up these further details about who’s singing what. These spoilers remain unsourced by the site, but it can be noted that it has proved extremely accurate in the past and has correctly listed the musical numbers each week this season, prior to Amazon’s release. For your speculation:

“Diva” – Beyoncé – New Directions Girls and Blaine
“Don’t Stop Me Now” – Queen – Blaine
“Nutbush City Limits” – Ike and Tina Turner – Santana
“Make No Mistake (She’s Mine)” – Barbra Streisand and Kim Carnes – Sam and Santana
“Bring Him Home”Les MisérablesRachel and Kurt
“Hung Up” – Madonna – Tina
“Girl On Fire” – Alicia Keys – Santana

“Bring Him Home” is definitely accurate, as Ryan Murphy has previously confirmed a Les Mis number on Twitter and the covers obviously list the solo singers. This looks set to be another Kurt and Rachel “diva-off,” reminiscent of season 1′s “Defying Gravity,” when a solo version of each half of their “diva-off” was released. The big question is: why? What could they possibly be competing for at this point in the show? Given that the synopsis mentions Kurt becoming frustrated with Rachel’s arrogance, perhaps it’s a personal, “you’re not better than me” confrontation. It’s also interesting that “Bring Him Home” is the inverse of “Defying Gravity” – this time, it’s Rachel singing a famous male show-stopper. It’s unsurprising that Glee has chosen to cover another Misérables song, given the current popularity of the new film, but if it wasn’t a “diva-off,” we would have liked to see these two have a proper Les Mis duet – maybe on a funny “Master of the House” or a moving “Little Fall of Rain.”

As for the other songs, they all make sense. It was already known that Santana will feature on three songs in “Diva,” and that she would be confronting Sam and Brittany about their relationship, so “Make No Mistake (She’s Mine)” seems obvious. The Tina Turner song is also confirmed to be her, and we’re betting that “Girl On Fire” is a big, introspective number where she makes the decision to try and move on – and move to New York City. Stills from the episode confirm a Blaine-and-the-girls number, we can’t think of better way for Glee to do “Don’t Stop Me Now” than as a Blaine solo, and Tina singing “Hung Up” about Blaine fits with the synopsis released by GleeZone.

“Diva” will air on February 7.

    a kurt/rachel showdown! yesssssss

  • GeekGirl101

No, please don’t do Queen. My heart barely recovered from their butchered version of Somebody to Love and Vocal Adrenalin’s Bohemian Rapsody.

I feel like they’ve handled queen fairly well so far, but for some reason I know they are gonna eff up this song. ffs.

    • Marie

Those weren’t too bad for me, but I still think Glee should just avoid classic rock. They sound too Kidz Bop when they try that.

      • http://twitter.com/Jakkpf Jack F

I don’t agree with this at all.

        • Marie

Why is that? Give me an argument.

I will say when they do rearrangements, it works (Like Don’t Stop Believing), but I would still say “School’s Out” was one of the worst covers they’ve ever tried.

          • Bruno

“Bohemian Rhapsody” is one of the best covers done in Glee.

Or, witht he Les Mis theme, Darren singing Little People (I had to…). Or everyone singing Do You Hear the People Sing. Also, New Directions girls and Blaine? It’s almost like he’s taking on Kurt’s role, especially considering the screencaps kinda remind me of Bad Romance… Also I love the idea of another Kurt and Rachel diva-off… I have all three versions of Defying Gravity

Ugh I can’t believe Blaine is singing Don’t Stop Me Now. Is voice doesn’t even compare to Freddie’s. Makes me so god damn angry.

    • NatalieFisher

      no one’s voice does, though.

      • http://twitter.com/Jakkpf Jack F

I mean of male characters. I think Lea would be a good fit as she definitely has the complex depth and vocal range that would match Freddie’s more than anyone else’s on the show.

  • Marie

I’m not sure how to feel about them doing Les Miz, and I find it odd that that is the song they would choose. Like, I’m surprised they didn’t try get “I Dreamed a Dream”.

Also, I have a serious love/hate relationship with Diva (the song). Soooo. . .I’m not sure. I guess we’ll see.

    • http://twitter.com/Jakkpf Jack F

“I Dreamed A Dream” has already been used for a Shelby/Rachel duet back in Season 1.

      • NatalieFisher

Yeah, the two big female numbers have been used before. When I first heard there was a Kurt/Rachel duet I thought for sure it would be Little Fall Of Rain, like Kurt or Rachel helping one another with an acting performance in class or something like that.

        • Marie

That would definitely make more sense to me.

      • Marie

I totally don’t remember that, but that makes sense.

Diva by Beyonce.. should only be sung by Beyonce.

  • Marie

Oh, and it looks like Sam and Santana are going to argue over Brittany. :-)

  • Andy

    If Tina sings Hung Up about Blaine. . . . . .

  • Marie

Ok, since Ryan released the Diva video, I like the performance. I still find the song a little obnoxious, but less so than Beyonce’s version. I think Heather’s dancing kind of saved it.

  • firebolt2398

I am thoroughly excited for Don’t Stop Me Now. I have always loved that song and I think it will be so much fun to watch. Darren will handle it well :)
