The CW has released the synopsis for the fourteenth episode of Supernatural‘s eighth season, titled “Trial and Error.”

The official press release had the following information about the episode:

KEVIN DECIPHERS THE TABLET — Kevin (guest star Osric Chau) deciphers the tablet and figures out how to close the gates of Hell. He tells Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) that according to the tablet one person must face a series of three tests designed by God. The first one – kill a hellhound. Sam and Dean argue over who should complete the trials. Kevin Parks directed the episode written by Andrew Dabb.

It looks like we’ll be moving back into the season-long mytharc with this episode as Kevin makes a breakthrough with the Word of God tablet he’s been translating. We’re especially interested in the idea of there being three tests – as they will undoubtedly be difficult – that only one of the brothers can face.

This setup should lead to some intense episodes over the back half of the season focusing on the completion of the three tests. And we don’t doubt that Crowley will complicate matters, especially in his search for the angel tablet.

“Trial and Error” airs Wednesday, February 13 at 9:00 p.m. ET.

So really, it’s like they took a 2 month hiatus. Because ever since the episode “”Torn and Frayed” we’ve been moving very, VERY slowly towards the actual plot of this FINAL season. I’ve never seen so many filler episodes…it’s really a let down for the fans, especially considering this is the last season. We got to see Cas, what…twice so far (not counting the flashbacks) in 11 episodes? I understand that Supernatural doesn’t have a history of every episode sticking to the main plot, but this is crazy. I’m glad I have Suits and other t.v. shows to tide me over. I’ll certainly be watching these filler episodes online for free instead of on the network.

Are you insane? First off, this isn’t the final season. Second, Castiel is NOT a main character, so why the hell would we see him often? This is the best season since season 2, and season 2 was the BEST season. Supernatural’s always been about filler episodes. Since the very first season. Originally, it was just going to be a Monster of the Week show, but Kripke changed that when he saw the chemistry between Jensen and Jared on screen and in real life. Point is that EVERY SEASON has a load of filler episodes. People who don’t like this season are usually whiny Destiel fans. So suck it up and go watch a shitty show if you don’t like Supernatural, anymore.
