Bethesda and ZeniMax have opened beta signups for the upcoming Elder Scrolls MMO, the imaginatively named Elder Scrolls Online. To mark the occasion, a six-minute cinematic trailer titled “The Alliances” has been unveiled.
To sign up for the Elder Scrolls Online beta test, head over to the official website. The signup form is relatively short and contains an open question where you can pitch your beta testing suitability to ZeniMax, or, alternatively, you could use the space to beg that they give you a spot.
No date has been given for the start of the closed beta tests, but given Elder Scrolls Online is due to release later this year, expect the testing to begin over the next couple of months. These tests are almost certain to be under strict non-disclosure agreements. Open beta tests won’t be playable until close to the game’s release, where they will likely serve as a test of server infrastructure or simply a demo.
The impressive cinematic trailer features three characters: a nord warrior, a high elf mage, and an imperial (or breton?) rogue, with each showing off some impressive moves against various foes.
Whilst the six-minute trailer shows off the kind of marketing budget ZeniMax has to work with, it’s disappointing that it doesn’t show any gameplay.
Elder Scrolls Online is set to release on PC later this year.
What do you make of the trailer? Will you be signing up for the beta?
