Homeland will undergo significant changes ahead of its third season, with executive producer Howard Gordon claiming the series will “reset” but also adding, “it’s really promising at the same time.” (Minor spoilers)
Howard Gordon, one of the executives of Homeland has revealed that the show will undergo an overhaul ahead of its third season in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
Gordon has claimed that “it’s a little bit of a reset, but it is really promising at the same time.” Homeland season three is currently in its pre-production stage, with the scriptwriters hard at work penning the first few episodes before shooting begins in May.
Homeland also looks set to build on themes from season two, with the introduction of more characters and will continue to evolve existing characters, especially Peter Quinn played by the excellent Rupert Friend.
Gordon suggested, “Quinn is an amazing character that had a really slow ramp-up but a strong, amazing finish.” With the Vice President Walden, Abu Nazir and David Estes all eliminated from Homeland in the final few episodes of season two, there is plenty of room for the introduction of new characters.
With David Estes killed off, could Saul become the head of the new-look CIA? Saul definitely has the potential and experience to fulfil that role, and has the wisdom to guide the precarious Carrie.
Morgan Saylor has also had opinions of her own hinting at her onscreen brother, Chris, portrayed by Jackson Pace, as wanting to step up to a new found acting level. “I know Jackson is eager to do something [and] I think as he gets older, there will be a little more juice able to be soaked up by him.”
Who would you like to see introduced to the Homeland cast? Would Saul be an excellent replacement of David Estes? Could Jackson Pace hold his own storyline within Homeland?
Homeland season three begins on Sunday September 29 on Showtime.
