Universal Studios announced today that the fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise will open June 13, 2014!

Though information has been hard to find as the project gets put together, we do know that the studio hired Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) to pen the script. Spielberg is producing, and they’re still in search of a director. Additionally, this installment will be shot in 3D, unlike the previous three films.

The Jurassic Park franchise will be reinvigorated when the first Jurassic Park film is re-released in 3D this April, celebrating it’s 20th anniversary. You can watch a trailer and see a poster at the link.

Earlier this week, Spielberg’s Robopocalypse (starring Anne Hathaway and Chris Hemsworth) was postponed indefinitely due to timing and financial issues. For for Spielberg fans, it’s exciting news that Jurassic Park 4 is now dated so there’s something definite to look forward to!

Jurassic Park 4 was originally confirmed by Steve Spielberg at Comic-Con 2011.

Who would you like to see direct Jurassic Park 4? Are you happy there will be yet another episode, or is it overdone? What do you think about the film being shot in 3D? Leave us your thoughts below!

They better get going on this. Casting, writing, and post-production will take up a good chunk. Fingers crossed for robotics for dinosaurs like they did with the first three. Or at least some of the time.

How is it possible to be this excited, yet this nervous at the same time?!? Don’t mess this movie up!

So excited! I loved Jurassic Park 3 despite everyone else hating it. I feel like 3 was released in a time where it didn’t have the right momentum. Jurassic Park 4 in 3D will be something people get excited about.

No way. 20th anniversary? I remember when it came out, and I didn’t think I was that young when it came out. (And it looks like 3D movies will never die out. If only they’d lower the 3D movie ticket prices…)

The 20 th anniversary is this year not 2014. That’s why there releasing the original in 3D this summer.

Sorry just reread the article and realized what you were refering to. Mistake.

Finally! This is so awesome. I’ve been waiting for this for 10 years ever since Jurassic Park 3 came out.
