After tweeting a cryptic message Wednesday night, Justin Timberlake announced he’s “ready,” presumably to bring us new music.
Though he didn’t directly announce a new album, a video released Thursday morning featured clips of JT in the studio and ends with a countdown. Looks like we’ll get a real announcement Monday.
Timberlake explained why he’s only produced two albums in 10 years in the 1-minute video, which follows the 31-year-old singer as he walks into a studio, puts his headphones on and says, “I’m ready.”
“I’m the one who sits and is obsessive about it before you even get to hear it. As close as I get to it I don’t know that I could physically torture myself that much year in and year out and expect it to fulfill me the way that it does and the way that it is right now.”
“I don’t want to put anything out that I feel I don’t love,” he said. “You just don’t get that every day. You have to wait for it.”
Timberlake’s last album, the Grammy-winning FutureSex/LoveSounds, was released in 2006 and produced hit singles in “Sexy Back,” “My Love,” and “What Goes Around…Comes Around.” Rumor has it he’s collaborating with Beyonce and Jay-Z on a new single.
