Sam Claflin, who plays District 4 Tribute Finnick Odair in the second installment of The Hunger Games Trilogy: Catching Fire, announced via Twitter that filming for the highly anticipated sequel is now complete.

He took to his Twitter to share the news:

In addition, Stephanie Leigh Schlund, who plays District 1 Tribute Cashmere in Catching Fire, tweeted a similar message about the end:

Both tweets were sent on December 21. Coincidentally, that’s when the world was supposed to end. Maybe the Mayans were referring to Catching Fire production.

Lionsgate had long planned to wrap Catching Fire filming by the end of 2012 in order to have Jennifer Lawrence finished so she could move on to the X-Men sequel in the new year.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens November 22, 2013. We hope to get some sort of teaser trailer in early 2013 given that the crew now have time to sit down and review all the footage!

Earlier this month we were treated to great, high-res photos of shooting in Hawaii for the arena scenes. For example, check out these photos of Sam Claflin (Finnick), Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss), and Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) filming a scene on a beach.

i really hope we see a sneak peek at the MTV Movie Awards in April

That’s what a lot of people are thinking and I think it seems likely (especially because they are playing earlier this year– April instead of mid-summer).

Of course, I’m hungry (pun intended) for some footage NOW (I’m so impatient), so I’d rather have it earlier than four months ahead, but you never know! (I remember when the teaser trailer for THG came out– that was much earlier than most were expecting!)
Also– a lot of people are guessing that a teaser could be attached to the Super Bowl. That would be a good idea, too.

I have a strong feeling that they will show a teaser for HG in March right before The Host

I REALLY loved the whole series and i can’t wait for catching fire. What confuses me is that Katniss didn’t lose her hearing in the first film, unlike the book,so i don’t know how much they are going to have to alter the film. Any one else exicted for the trailer to come out?

Movie sucked compared to the book. They left so much out hoping Catching Fire is better

The amount of material cut out or left in a film-to-screen adaptation is no indication of the quality of the movie. What matters is pacing. This is why things are often cut from books. They need to worry about making it a good movie first.

Oh I’m so excited. I can’t wait to see a trailer, I can hardly believe they’re finished filming already, that certainly didn’t take very long.
