Sam Claflin, who plays District 4 Tribute Finnick Odair in the second installment of The Hunger Games Trilogy: Catching Fire, announced via Twitter that filming for the highly anticipated sequel is now complete.
He took to his Twitter to share the news:
It’s the last day of filming TheHungerGames #CatchingFire and I’m missing it already. Thank you all for making it an incredible experience.

In addition, Stephanie Leigh Schlund, who plays District 1 Tribute Cashmere in Catching Fire, tweeted a similar message about the end:
A wonderful chapter in life has come to a close. What an amazing blessing! My thanks go to God,#D1#Cashmere.Had the BEST time! #CatchingFire

Both tweets were sent on December 21. Coincidentally, that’s when the world was supposed to end. Maybe the Mayans were referring to Catching Fire production.
Lionsgate had long planned to wrap Catching Fire filming by the end of 2012 in order to have Jennifer Lawrence finished so she could move on to the X-Men sequel in the new year.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens November 22, 2013. We hope to get some sort of teaser trailer in early 2013 given that the crew now have time to sit down and review all the footage!
Earlier this month we were treated to great, high-res photos of shooting in Hawaii for the arena scenes. For example, check out these photos of Sam Claflin (Finnick), Jennifer Lawrence (Katniss), and Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) filming a scene on a beach.
