We’ve yet to see a trailer for The Wolverine film starring Hugh Jackman, but the studio has now released an actual moving poster with Wolverine featured on the top of a roof in the rain.

The Wolverine hasn’t seen much promotional love as of late, but this is definitely some unique viral marketing. We’ve seen a few motion posters before at theaters or Comic-Con, but this moving The Wolverine poster is definitely interesting.

Check out the motion poster below and let us know what you think of this viral marketing for The Wolverine:

We recently found out when news broke that Hugh Jackman would be reprising his role in X-Men: Days of Future Past. Many fans assumed that the tweet hinted that director Bryan Singer had planned on including Wolverine as well when he ended his tweet with “More to come.” Considering Wolverine is one of the more popular characters in the franchise, this isn’t a total shock since Hugh Jackman has been the only one to branch out into his own solo film – not to mention the sequel The Wolverine, which is moving into post production.

We’ve also included the standard poster as well:

Hugh Jackman is a hot commodity right now, as he will be starring in Les Miserables, which will undoubtedly be a smash hit this year as Oscar buzz has already begun after it recently had its first screenings. Plus, The Wolverine will be hitting theaters later this summer.

Am I the only one who thinks the motion ruins this poster? The rain looks like a cheap early 2000′s animated background for a webpage…

      No, I totally agree..

This ought to be interesting, that background being what looks like Hong Kong.

That’s Tokyo. He’s holding a katana… and you can see Japanese writing and the tv tower in the background.

I love stuff like this that can show that the .gif can be elevated into something more then memes.

I’m looking forward to this, but i don;t seen the need for it, all his back story and origins were out layed in X men Origins Wolverine

It’s not a prequel. The Wolverine takes place in modern day, sometime after x men the last stand. It’s a stand-alone movie.
