Over the weekend, Les Miserables stars Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe were together in a pub in New York City, and performed the song “The Confrontation” live for an audience! Continue reading to watch the awesome performance!
The past few months, the “Russell Crowe and Alan Doyle present the Indoor Garden Party” stage group has been performaning in venues around NYC. The group brings together performers including Scott Grimes, Kevin Durand, Size 2 Shoes, Alan Doyle and Les Miserables star Samantha Barks. This past weekend, they performed at Joe’s Pub, and Hugh Jackman made a special apperance.
Crowe and Jackman performed one of their duets, “The Confrontation,” from Tom Hooper’s upcoming rendition of Les Miserables. The song is in the first act, after Fantine (Anne Hathaway) dies and Jean Valjean (Jackman) pledges to take Fantine’s daughter, Cosette (Amanda Seyfried), into his care. Crowe plays the police inspector Javert, who is obsessed with hunting down Valjean because he broke his parole. After Valjean confesses to Javert who he is, he asks for three days to go and fetch Cosette. Javert doesn’t believe his intentions and the song ends with Valjean escaping after knocking Javert unconscious (we’ll have to wait to see the fight in the actual movie, though!).
Although a few short clips from the film were released, this is the first tease we have of Crowe and Jackman singing this specific song.
