Former Game of Thrones lead Sean Bean will return to the small screen! The actor has landed a role in a new TNT pilot from the creator of Homeland.

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Bean will be replacing Brendan Fraser in the new series Legends, which was originally developed for NBC but will be airing on TNT (if the pilot episode is approved).

Fraser left the production last month, citing creative differences with showrunner Howard Gordon.

The series is based on the book of the same name by Robert Littell, and has been developed by Homeland creators Howard Gordon and Alexander Cary along with Jeffrey Nachmanoff (The Day After Tomorrow) and Jonathan Levin (Charmed).

Legends follows Martin Odum (Bean), a deep-cover operative who has the ability to transform himself into a different person for each job. It sounds a little Dollhouse-esque, especially when a mysterious stranger puts the idea out there that Martin himself isn’t who he thinks he is…

We’re certainly intrigued! And not just because it means that Ned Stark will be back in our lives.

Hopefully this series will see a similar success as Homeland has done, and not go the way of the highly anticipated Awake, which did not appeal to a mainstream audience and was cancelled after its first season.

Just out of curiosity, if the show is picked up and actually runs, will they kill him off in the first season or at least hold off until the second?
