As the 2013 Sundance Film Festival is slowly creeping up, first glimpses at scheduled premieres there are starting to arrive, the latest in the form of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut, Don Jon’s Addiction, starring Scarlett Johansson.
Given Gordon-Levitt’s busy schedule, we were surprised to hear of its inclusion in the 2013 Sundance lineup, although we definitely aren’t complaining! In addition to Johansson and Gordon-Levitt (who wrote and directed the project), the film also stars Julianne Moore, Tony Danza, Glenne Headly and Rob Brown.
Here’s the first look image:
Back in September, Gordon-Levitt briefly told us about Don Jon’s Addiction, saying: “We just finished shooting it two months ago and we’re in the process of editing it. I wrote myself a fun part. I wrote Scarlett Johansson a really fun part. She liked the script so much that she did it (which is an honor). She’s fantastic in the movie. She’s really funny and really different than any character I’ve seen her play before. Julianne Moore is also in the movie. I think she’s one of the great actors alive. Tony Danza plays my dad. It’s turning out really well. It’s definitely the hardest thing I’ve ever done. The first person I showed a draft of my script? [Looper director] Rian [Johnson]. He’s been really, enormously supportive.”
Described as a comedy, Don Jon’s Addiction is “the journey of a contemporary, porn-addicted Don Juan-type as he attempts to become less selfish.” We’re certainly intrigued!
