Following the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 in theaters last month, we put up a poll asking which film you think is the best of the Saga.

The definitive answer, as determined by fans, is… Breaking Dawn – Part 2!

The last of the five films scored 50% of the overall vote. Twilight ranked second with 19%, New Moon third with 13%, Eclipse fourth with 12%, and Breaking Dawn – Part 1 ranked last with 6%.

We’re surprised that there could be such a stark difference in between Breaking Dawn Parts 1 and 2 considering they handle the same book by Stephenie Meyer. Part 1′s results may’ve been hurt by some slow parts in the story and the fact that it was all an introduction for what would come by the end of Part 2.

One could argue that the last film did best because it was most fresh in everyone’s minds, but the margin of victory is so high that we doubt even a couple months of stewing could’ve shaken up the final results.

We’re not surprised that Twilight came in second place. The original film, directed by Catherine Hardwicke, holds a special place in the hearts of fans for numerous reasons. For one, it was unknown prior to its November 2008 release whether or not it would be the next big phenomenon. In addition, the film had a very “indie” feel to it thanks in part to Hardwicke and because Summit was keeping the budget low. They didn’t want to make too big a production out of it if it underperformed at the box office.

Do you agree with the best Twilight  film results?

Once Breaking Dawn – Part 2 is available on DVD/Blu-ray, and we get to check out any and all complete box sets that Summit releases, maybe the opinions of the fans will morph over time.

I’m not surprised that BREAKING DAWN PART 2 was hugely popular in the votes – I think it was hugely successful in how it brought closure to the Saga, and it had an epic and exciting feeling to it that impressed viewers beyond those who are loyal fans of the novels. The battle coverage was a very important element of its success (it filled in a gap that the novel hinted at but didn’t actually cover) and the movie brought into focus Bella’s evolution over the course of the series. The scenes with Renesmee were handled really well and I particularly like that you see her as an independent and intelligent character. Even though Bella and Edward are protective, you get the sense that this girl is her own person, and she’s actually treated as an equal amongst fierce and adult characters.

BD PART 1 was great (with such a vivid and daring birth scene), but the Bella and Jacob dance scene could’ve easily been deleted and it wouldn’t have harmed the movie if it had been. It just dragged out the reception and I felt that it was very unfair to Edward’s character that we see Bella share a long dance with the guy who not only pines for her but also hates Edward and imprints on his daughter. There had already been a key scene of closure between Bella and Jacob in their goodbye scene near the end of ‘Eclipse.’ However, I do feel that Bella’s strong belief in herself throughout BD1 and her motherly instincts are all very powerful elements and they reinforce what I appreciated about the novel. Bella knows her own mind even when others doubt her, which Edward points out in a great BD2 scene (“I’ve had a bad habit of underestimating you.”)

My personal favorite of the Saga is still TWILIGHT. The intimate and indie feeling of that movie wins out every time for me over all the action and distractions which come in the sequels. I prefer the story when it’s solidly focused on Bella and Edward’s relationship. Whenever there are critical complaints about the need for more action in a series that is primarily about romance, it’s clear that the point of the story is misunderstood. Hardwicke, Pattinson and Stewart all contributed to make something truly special with that first movie. The use of blue tint to convey “the cold ones” was, I think, a genius move. The whole look of the movie is really interesting. Excellent soundtrack, too.

twilight breaking dawn part 2 is one of the best movie i have ever seen but i think eclipse should have come 2nd then breaking dawn part 1 twilight 4th and in my opinionnew moon wasnt the best
I love the twilight saga overall and i dont think there are anything that could fault breaking dawn part 2! :-)

I still haven’t seen BD part 2, but I think New Moon will always be my favorite.

I like each movie for different reasons. I still stand by my order (except Twilight & BDP1)
    New Moon
    Breaking Dawn Par 2
    Breaking Dawn Part 1

Although i think after reading comments from the original post, that i prefer Twilight to Breaking Dawn Part 1. So Breaking Dawn Part 1 is my least favourite Twi film.
Twilight was unique and it had a sense of normality to it.

New Moon was my least favourite book but just the way it was shot, the music/score and general looks and acting of the actors (mostly Taylor Lautner) is why it’s my favourite.

HOWEVER i 110% think that Eclipse is by far the best made Twilight film. It doesn’t have the overbearing fluff between Bella & Edward, which is why i think most people don’t like it as much as the others. But i love it for that reason. It’s got a darker and more serious tone to it. I remember going into the cinema and literally thinking ‘Am i in the right film?” (with the whole Riley beginning).

I think there were a lot of parts during BD part 1 that could have been left out,i only really liked the Bella transformation scene. I was a bit bored throughout. Breaking Dawn definitely should have been made into 1 film – i wouldn’t have minded if it was little longer.

Breaking Dawn Part 2 was the most exciting Twilight movie and it was just a really beautiful send off. It would be my first choice but i just think New Moon had the extra special element!.

—I have no idea why my comment just turned into an essay……………lol

I haven’t seen Breaking Dawn Part 2, so I can’t pass a final judgement, but I liked them all, except Breaking Dawn Part 1. I just didn’t like it, the book was good, but the film was ugh to me. Probably because of the whole Bella being pregnant thing was rather gross and when she gave birth and all that stuff. Not my kind of thing. I think out of the first four, New Moon is my favourite.

I’m not a huge fan of Twilight but I do get around to seeing the films and I thought Eclipse was the best. I liked the action, the character backgrounds we get to see and the closure of the awful love triangle that never even stood a chance.
