Last night American Horror Story episode 2×07 “Dark Cousin” revealed the Angel of Death as well as the modern day Bloody Face. Now Ryan Murphy talks about his inspiration for the episode!
Frances Conroy made her first appearance as the Angel of Death in “Dark Cousin” and her role became quite clear when she comes to the side of those ready to die. The episode also revealed that there are indeed two separate serial killers who go by the name Bloody Face. Who is the modern Bloody Face and why did he take up Dr. Thredson’s work? Ryan Murphy discusses these new findings, plus season 3!
Much like the other factors, Murphy revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Conroy’s Angel of Death character was based on several religions. One of his favorite aspects of her character is that she recognized the devil in Sister Eunice as one of her fellow fallen. The Angel of Death also recognized Sister Jude from her previous attempts at suicide. And this won’t be the last we see of her character.
It was confirmed that the modern day Bloody Face is being played by Dylan McDermott, who starred in the first season of American Horror Story. When questioned about this, Murphy replied, “Yes. Dylan is modern day Bloody Face. So the question is why is he the modern day Bloody Face? What is he doing? And that’s revealed in episode nine.”
In speaking about the next season of American Horror Story, Murphy said that they are already working on the script for next year and he already knows what the focus will be! Fans can also expect to get clues about the next season as they did last year about the Asylum. You can also let out a breath of relief knowing the show will announce the idea for season 3 sooner than they did last year. Murphy divulged, “We haven’t decided what lead actors are coming back. I know what it is and I know that there will be clues in the final episode. Last year we didn’t announce what it was about—we waited till the summer to do it. I think we’ll announce it earlier this year.”
Murphy also gave a few teases revealing that in the next episode fans will be cheering for Lana and also said that he thinks people will love what ultimately happens to her. The episode will also show how the devil (Sister Eunice) would decorate a Christmas Tree. Plus what happened to Grace’s body.
Ian McShane will also be making an appearance in the next episode as Santa Claus! Well, not really. McShane’s character is actually a crazy person as Murphy explains he was, “victimized so badly in prison that he made a psychotic break and decides he’s Santa Claus and he knows who’s been naughty and who’s been nice.”
What are you looking forward to seeing in the next episode?
