Movies and TV shows affect our lives more than you might think, and we’ve compiled a list of the best life lessons we’ve learned from the big and small screen.
Every single day we come home from work or school to let ourselves relax and unwind from the realities of life. We plunge ourselves into the plots of our television shows, and the story arcs of characters in movies and books. It’s the way we escape from reality; we can enter a fantasy world full of dragons and witches or comical world of goofy scientists and huge families.
You might not realize that these worlds and fandoms that we immerse ourselves in have taught us a lot more about life than you probably ever considered, and we wanted to bring them to your attention just incase you haven’t realized them already.
Bless Grandma Aggie for this beautiful quote. Life isn’t about being a part of a herd and shepherded by one voice with one opinion. It’s about being the black sheep and sticking out! Whoever told you that you need to blend in to fit in is sadly mistaken, because if you blend in then your voice and your personality will not be heard or seen as much. We’ve come to learn that no one is normal. We’ve all got our intricacies and our differences, the things that people will raise their eyebrows at and get uncomfortable sitting next to us for. Although for some reason society has somehow began to think that if we show these things in public we’ll be viewed as freaks. To hell with normalcy! Be yourself. Show your personality and let your colors shine because that is how you will find your real friends and your own way.
Don’t misunderstand this quote to say, “Stop dreaming.” Because that’s not what it means at all! It means that instead of just thinking and fantasizing about your dreams coming true, take those essential first steps to make them happen. Take a risk and live your life because you don’t want to be 80 years old and still dreaming about what your life would have been like if you’d followed your imagination. Oh, we can’t write a post about life lessons without missing out the most important one from The Lion King! We were going to go with Hakunah Matata, but we felt this one had more of an impact. It’s a really simple lesson, but easy to forget. When you’re stressing about something you’ve done or keep thinking about that stupid stuff you’ve done when you were younger just remember you’re older now! You’re wiser. This doesn’t just count for stuff you did years ago but stuff you did yesterday. If you’ve recently made a mistake or been hurt by someone know that now that it’s happened you can learn from it and go forward instead of sulk over it and go nowhere. Time heals all wounds, and even if you don’t believe it now you’ll believe it at some point. Article Continues Below
Don’t be scared! Life is your ballpark and at some point you have to face the pitcher and take a shot at hitting a home run for your dreams. Whether you get to a base or strike out, it doesn’t matter because you’ll be able to say you tried and you won’t have to dream about trying when you’re older. You’ll be be so much happier knowing that you won’t have to be thinking “what if” anymore.
The good things are still good! The happy things are still happy! Just because you may be faced with something unpleasant or unhappy doesn’t mean that those pleasant memories and happy things ceased to be important. Think about them, cherish them, and know that more are to come even if you have to get through the bad things first. We’re so glad that this scene was added into The Hunger Games because it’s one of the most inspirational quotes we’ve collected. Fear is strong, it’s powerful and it’s what drives a lot of us to our instinct to survive, but without hope that instinct is pointless. We hope to survive, so we try harder to get there. We push on through the hard times and the bad moments because we hope that after all of it we’ll be okay, and we will. In the wake of disaster there is nothing stronger than a community that hopes to pull through it and help the survivors. Without hope, the world would be a much darker place. But with it, the world is an endless ocean of opportunities and chances to make it better. Oh, Buffy, why did you have to leave us? This quote is one of our favorites because it says it all, it doesn’t need to be over-thought or analyzed. It’s really quite simple and just as impactful: Just because something big happened, good or bad, that one moment doesn’t define who you are. It’s what you choose to do with that moment and the affects it had that guides you through life. This is a great quote from a fantastic show. It goes to tell us that with enough focus, determination, and hard work that you can will yourself to do almost anything. Don’t let the size of the task prevent you from conquering it, but instead let the size motivate you. Just like Dumbo and the magic feather, it isn’t your lucky number or accessory that helps you get through the task but the will you have to finish it.
