Read the description for an upcoming episode of Merlin to learn what troubles Merlin and Mordred will soon have to face.

Two episodes away from the series 5 finale, the tension is building in Camelot. And while we still don’t know what has happened with Gwen and Morgana, it seems like the time has come for Mordred’s big test of loyalty.

The official description for episode 11, released by The BBC, reads:

Mordred finds himself torn between loyalty and love, but little does he realize that the path he chooses will shape Camelot’s destiny.

As the drums of war beat ever louder, a desperate Merlin feels trapped by the cruel circle of fate – is he powerless to stop his dreams of Albion from crumbling to dust

Sadly we have to assume that Mordred will end up choosing the darker path, like he is destined to do.

But what would make Mordred’s choice one between loyalty and love? Will it be his love for Arthur and Camelot warring with his loyalty to the Druid people? Or will it be his love for Morgana against his loyalty to Arthur?

We have to wait a while to find out, as this episode airs on December 15! Next up is episode 5×08, entitled “The Hollow Queen,” in which Merlin is forced to leave Camelot to help a Druid boy, but a visiting lord named Sarrum might spell trouble for Arthur and the knights. This episode airs Saturday, at 20:00 GMT on BBC One.
