“Legitimate” sources say that the answer is a definitive “yes.”

There is no word how, but BleedingCool.com has heard that David Tennant will return for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary festivities. Tennant played the beloved and favorited Tenth Doctor in the second, third, and fourth series of the regenerated, one might say, Doctor Who franchise.

Bleeding Cool said:

Yes. David Tennant will be back in time for the Doctor Who anniversary. Be prepared to be surprised…”

Late last week Tennant gave a questionable response to a query about the 50th anniversary – suddenly speaking mysteriously about the prospects despite continued enthusiasm in the past.

With Moffat – head writer of the show – at the helm, the fans will most likely be nothing but surprised, considering his history of plot twists and exciting stories.

Fans would for sure be ecstatic about the return of Tennant, but they most likely won’t know a positive answer until the airing of the anniversary specials.

If these sources are indeed legitimate, we can expect an official announcement from the BBC in the near future, as it has a habit of revealing crucial information before it is leaked. Previous examples have included the casting of Jenna-Louise Coleman as the new companion, and (more recently) the announcement of Coraline writer Neil Gaiman’s sophomore script for the show.

Do you think David Tennant will come back?
