Zwart discussess getting the trailer together quickly, considering they just wrapped filming last week. Zwart says the teaser trailer is usually started a few weeks after production begins. There is typically enough footage to put something small together however this, while classified as a teaser, comes in at almost two minutes long.
When discussing fans Zwart said, “Sometimes I think you can’t rush these things, but we were really eager to get it out to the fans,” he said. “There’s a huge fan base. Every day when we were filming, there were fans outside of our set every day waiting. They’re so eager to see something that we figured it’s time to get something out to them.”
When discussing the making of the trailer Zwart says that the back track helped create the epic tone. While Zwart feels the movie is very epic it is also kind of an inmate drama. The music gives that slightly mysterious yet serious tone.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones doesn’t release until next August but you can watch the trailer here and check out the first still released of Clary.
