I actually liked this episode for the most part, I just don’t think they tackled eating disorders very well. I am very tired of Glee thinking that it is their duty to touch on every single problem facing society. Just write a good story and let things fall into place.

    • bradlee_scott

Yes! Thank you! It’s almost too much soap boxing not enough power behind it. I can understand when a great message comes with a natural character development but t’s times like this ep where it seems like they’re throwing in lessons just to have something to say.

    • http://twitter.com/blinddude62 Matthew D. Friend

Dude I agree with you on the storyline of Marley’s issue. There’s so much more to that issue than a few words. What I’m livid is the continual bullying from an educator. This really is sending the wrong ideas to viewers especially teens as it might scare kids away from public school systems

      • http://twitter.com/RyanHBP Ryan Floyd

I’m concerned mostly with the scenes involving Sue alone in the bathroom with students. In most schools the faculty aren’t even allowed to USE the same washrooms as the students, let alone be allowed behind closed doors with them.

  • bradlee_scott

First and foremost- thank you Glee for calling Finn out on this whole teaching the Glee club thing. They really did realize how ridiculous the idea was and rationalized it.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1840730980 Michael Vartanian

I loved and hated the episode. The fantasy Rachel and Co had during the “You’re the One that I Want” Performance was borderline creepy. Move on from HS!! At least Rachel and Kurt appear to be finally moving in that direction. Also, I hope Cassandra gets fired for sleeping with students or is that ok at NYADA?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=17127641 Laura Jurgensmeyer

      It’s college… If they’re over 18, it’s legal.

      • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

legal but very inappropriate, and her treatment of Rachel is borderline harassment/ I’m pretty sure in the real world she definitely wouldn’t get jail time but she’d probably get in trouble with NYADA’s disciplinary board for it, the whole situation is incredibly unethical.

  • Lindsay

Wahhh the suspense is killing me!

  • http://twitter.com/MelissaJKumrow Melissa Kumrow

My sister should have learned by now that when you watch Glee with me and then insult me and all the Glee Chat hosts there will be some yelling.

  • http://twitter.com/thelinzmo Linz

Am I missing where this is??

  • me

It was soooo awkward with Finn, Rachel, Kurt, and Blaine… It was almost painful to watch. Don’t get me wrong, the episode was fantastic, but I just couldn’t take it. However, I like the thought of Ryder and Marley together. He’s so sweet. The last Finn and Rachel scene was so sad, but I think that Finn is happy at where he’s at, and I’m glad that they’ve finally stopped throwing crap at him.

  • Vanj203

First, Blaine was really dreamy in this episode, but I was really worried he and Kurt would wind up back together again at the end – glad that they didn’t. Doo-wop is Blaine’s forte I think. Second, I love how Ryder gives Marley confidence, however, it’s annoying that Marley so easily buys into Kitty’s insults now when Marley herself has seen through Kitty before. Third, why were Kurt and Rachel even at McKinley if they both were so worried about running into their exes? Finally, why did Mike and Tina break up anyway??

    • http://www.facebook.com/amber.carney3 Amber Carney

All of your points are sooo true! I couldn’t have said it any better! I was so mad at Kurt at the end, why the heck would you go there in the first place if you were just gonna twist the knife even more and make Blaine more upset?! It has to hurt him too.

  • http://purplehrdwonder.livejournal.com/ Caitlin Kelly

Kurt and Blaine were saying so much with nothing but looks in that backstage scene and during “Beauty School Dropout.” Ouch, my heart.

  • http://www.facebook.com/amber.carney3 Amber Carney

Watched Beauty School Drop Out, had an entirely too fan girlish moment, died, and went to heaven to be with Teen Angel. best number of the episode by far.

  • AtlasShrugged

This episode seemed really flat and boring. I found myself checking the clock multiple times and just waiting for it to get better. I’ve really tried to be open-minded with the new characters this season but, for the most part, I just can’t. Kitty is so vicious it’s not even entertaining to watch her. The songs were okay but certainly didn’t blow me away (and I’m a huge Grease fan). There was no originality to the songs. They were literally copies from the movie.

When “You’re the One That I Want” came on and Rachel and Finn “took over” the parts, I realized how much I wanted THEM to really be in the play (even though I do like Marley and Ryder). I loved seeing all of the “old” characters (Santana, Mercedes, etc.). Maybe I just don’t like change. I don’t know. And I don’t think the characters should be in school forever…maybe just that the show should have ended after season 3. I just don’t care about the new characters as much as the older ones.

With that being said, I actually think I’ll enjoy Finn leading the Glee Club. I will not miss Will. I loved Rachel and Finn’s conversation. So realistic for a break-up when both people are hurt. I’m curious about what happened with Blaine’s “hook-up”.

  • Michael

I have to say for the first time in a long time I was satisfied with an episode of Glee. I’m glad to see the direction they are taking both the Finchel and Klaine stories. You can tell they plan to keep Finn and Rachel apart for awhile, which will definitely freshen things up a bit so I’m looking forward to that. I also appreciate that they are not making it easy for Kurt to forgive Blaine. They have their problems and need to grow and fix them before they ultimately get back together, because it’s obvious that they will, and probably sooner than Finchel. Overall I think it was a great episode and I’m excited to see where things are going!

    • http://twitter.com/Tygridia Tygridia

I’ve also noticed that both Rachel and especially Finn are getting more interesting and it’s just been a couple of episodes after TBU.

  • http://www.facebook.com/brianna.goins.3 Brianna Nicole Goins

I really, really, really love Grease, so I was very nervous to see Glee take it on. Not that it’s a difficult show to pull off, but I wanted them to do it justice. I was so pleasantly surprised at tonight’s episode.

  • http://twitter.com/sapienveneficus Wise Witch

This episode was amazing! But was anyone else bothered by Marley’s storyline? I don’t think they could have sent a more damaging message to all the teenage girls tuning in tonight if they’d tried.

  • http://www.facebook.com/brianna.goins.3 Brianna Nicole Goins

The reprise of “Sandra Dee” (Marley singing) almost broke my heart. Along with There Are Worse Things I Could Do (I had no idea it would be a three-part song, and I loved it) and, of course, the emotional manipulation that was You’re The One That I Want.

  • http://twitter.com/CassiopeiaDrake Cassie Drake

I think this was the worst episode so far this season. Everything just seemed to rushed, shoe-horned and contrived. They were just rying too hard to try to make the episode fit with the songs. That’s why I hate when they do stuff like this. Hopefully shit will get fleshed out in the next few episodes, because if this is all we get on some of these issues, I’mma gonna flip a table.

And what’s with all the couples suddenly getting back together again?

How did Tina not see that Marley’s costume was being altered? Kitty cannot be THAT good of a seamstress to get it taken in and the additional material cut and sqaured away in a few minutes.

I totes saw the Brody and Cassie thing coming, but I cannot believe that she purposely orchestrated and manipulated the situation so much. But I’m not surprised that they hooked up. However, isn’t that illegal??? So excited to see that plot developed.

  • http://twitter.com/HungerSlytherin HungerSlytherin

    Has it begun yet?

  • Jenn

Glee disgusted me today. The bulimia arc and fat jokes toward marley are awful and give girls a bad image considering kitty is calling an already skinny marley fat. I have been disillusioned by glee this season and this settled it. They lost a viewer

    • http://www.facebook.com/brianna.goins.3 Brianna Nicole Goins

You were supposed to be disgusted by Kitty.

  • http://www.facebook.com/brianna.goins.3 Brianna Nicole Goins

Next week’s promo terrifies me. Season four has been pretty good so far. Please, please let it just be a ridiculous promo and not a ridiculous episode.

  • http://twitter.com/CassiopeiaDrake Cassie Drake

Oh, and what was with Santana being in the HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL??? TALK ABOUT A “SUPER-SENIOR”. JFC THIS SHIT IS GETTING WEIRD.

The only people who seem to be acting normally are Kurt and Rachel. They’ve moved on with their lives, but came back to watch and support their friends. THAT IS APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUS.

    • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

Probably because Hummelberry are actually going to school and work and getting invested in it. Santana and Mike apparently have no classes and Mercedes apparently doesn’t have work or settling in LA to do. It’s all well and good and makes sense that Mercedes and Mike are there for a purpose (acting as vocal coaches and choreographers for the play) but they need to distance themselves from the school so they should move on. Now that Finn is actually there for a reason he makes a little more sense.

  • http://twitter.com/blinddude62 Matthew D. Friend

OMG! Totally Rad Grease Lightening with @Blake_Jenner! Below Zero chill between Blaine and Kurt! Upsetting & Anger over the Rizzo Deal! Damn that Sylvestinator!!!! Finn & Rachel’s last words were disappointing, not even a friendship? Humm?!? What the hell is our world coming to??!!

  • http://twitter.com/MelissaJKumrow Melissa Kumrow

I love how I have the same shelve thing that Natalie has in the background…

  • http://www.facebook.com/amber.carney3 Amber Carney

John…you look like Finn. hahahaha. I’m diggin’ it.

  • http://twitter.com/thelinzmo Linz

I am so happy this is happening right now =)

  • Lauren

I think it was the closure for Finchel but I think Klaine is not over. I think Klaine will be the first of the breakups to get back together. But what is the deal with Santana. Is she only going to randomly appear at McKinley every two episodes? When is she going to new york? Also I liked the 2.0s a bit better this week, but Kitty is still too mean and Marley is a little too Mary Sue.

    • http://twitter.com/sapienveneficus Wise Witch

I’ve got to agree. I normally find the 2.0′s terribly dull, but I really felt for Wade during “There Are Worse Things I Could Do”. And, of course, I can’t wait to see more Klaine scenes in the coming weeks.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Joey-Mangum/1820064015 Joey Mangum

EWW, FINN’S YUCKY! I don’t even know why he’s taking over the club… No, just no… It’s weird.

  • http://twitter.com/MelissaJKumrow Melissa Kumrow

I love how Roxanne pops up and no one registers it till know

  • http://twitter.com/sapienveneficus Wise Witch

Was no one bothered, though, by what Marley’s mom was actually saying? Rather than reassuring Marley that she was perfect the way she was, she instead says that Marley needs to fight to stay thin. Really, glee? Really? Are you actively trying to screw up a whole generation of teenage girls?

  • Stephen

With Marley and her mom, I think it was also her mother asking for help dieting so that she can lose weight.

  • HPfanatic

I totally agree with the shaky acceptance message, that’s also why I don’t like Grease. It’s all “they didn’t like me when I was myself, so I’m gonna change for a guy”

  • http://twitter.com/thelinzmo Linz

I can actually never forgive Finn for his use of the R word he will never be redeemed in my eyes, and I hope Sue never does either

  • http://twitter.com/MelissaJKumrow Melissa Kumrow

I love how I’m waiting for someone to start playing with the Google effects

  • Marly

the thing about Sue is that she’s set up as a comic character in her insulting, so, in a way, she IS operating under different rules than all the others. And it’s acceptable, because SHE doesn’t create those rules, the writers are.

  • http://twitter.com/MelissaJKumrow Melissa Kumrow

I love how I can see John’s 7th Harry Potter book in the background.

  • HPfanatic

    Roxanne’s ‘stash – life. made.

  • Samantha

Like what you just said about Marley feeling insecure and thus listening to Kitty. I think many girls have been in that position, albeit in a less extreme manner (and some are that extreme). I know that as much as I hated some girls in school, when they showed a glimmer of being nice, I almost always jumped at the chance for acceptance. It’s corny, but a good message.

  • Billy

I hate how Blaine is the only bad guy in the whole Klaine thing. Kurt was ignoring Blaine the entire time while he was in NYC…Blaine trusted that Kurt would always be there for him, and he lost that trust the minute Kurt decided to ignore his phone calls. I know that Blaine’s actions can’t be 100% justified…but Kurt needs to feel the guilt that he is forcing onto Blaine–he hurt Blaine just as much.

    • http://twitter.com/Dillon_Mays Dillon Mays

But that’s what happens when you have a job. Sure Kurt declined a few calls, but he’s trying to be social. Blaine’s excuse that he was lonely was weak. He pushed Kurt to go to New York. And he cheated. That makes him the bad guy, no matter how much Kurt ignored him.

      • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

Blaine is the bad guy for cheating but I still can’t say Kurt wasn’t in the wrong. No matter busy Kurt got he was a bad boyfriend for not making some time for him. It is understandable to take a rain check on calls when he was working but not just to have drinks with your new friends. If Kurt had been paying attention he would’ve known how excited Blaine was about the class presidency and at least excused himself for 5 minutes to congratulate him, or even call back when he got home like he said he would. Basically ‘Makeover’ was designed to show Kurt as a neglecting boyfriend and in ‘The Break Up’ Blaine was the bad guy. Blaine screwed up more but they have both contributed to the situation they’re in.

        • http://twitter.com/Dillon_Mays Dillon Mays

I understand that, but this is all new to Kurt. He’s never had a job. He’s in this new environment where him being gay is nothing. These people want to talk to him and it has nothing to do with glee club. He has these new friends. So it’s understandable that he’s excited about having a job at Vogue.com. It’s a big deal, especially for a fresh graduate from a small town in Ohio. He’s tried for so long to fit in and to be accepted straight away, uncaring that he’s gay, it pulls him in a lot further than it would if some people he worked with were homophobes.

Yes, he should have called Blaine back, or talked to him, but he’s acting the same way he would at McKinley. He usually talks about himself for a while before getting to Blaine. It’s not that he’s a bad boyfriend, it’s just his personality.

So I understand that Kurt may be bad, but he still did talk to Blaine, even if he talked about himself. And excuse him for trying to work while at work. Why not talk after school, or the weekend. Or send a text and respond when you can? Whenever something big happens in someone’s life, they tend to focus on that a lot.

Blaine cheated. No matter how bad of a boyfriend Kurt was, you don’t cheat. You talk to them. Bring up your problems that you have with the relationship. You don’t break the trust by cheating. And Kurt’s problems, they could have been fixed. But you can’t fix someone who cheats. There’s no trust left.

          • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

            totally get your point :)

  • marie

I just want to say, Unique is a terrible friend. Seriously, she went along with the whole “Sandra Dee” thing, which was just mean.

    • Mitchel Clow

      Agreed. And great point!

  • Just a annoyed fan

I have to say I thought the show tonight wasn’t worth me watching I’m sick in tried of glee giving all these couples closure and not others so unfair man but the I loved Darren cross he song was really good just be fair to all these couples we grew to love but don’t really care about Rachel I think she got what she deserve it’s called life Finn finally got some balls and Marley needs get some balls and I think Ryder is a pretty ok character that’s my rant I’m done lol

  • theaterboy1

I loved it (shocker)! I loved their performance of Grease and just about everything else in the episode! Blake Jenner was once again perfect as Ryder, I love that he is there for Marley and I definitely ship them!

  • http://twitter.com/Dillon_Mays Dillon Mays

Hoping that this is the last of Klaine for a while (even if Ryan Murphy is tweeting pictures of them together)

Like how Glee is pointing out there own flaws from previous episodes.

  • http://twitter.com/Tygridia Tygridia

OMG, John, it that a Sorting Hat it the background? I think I just fell in love!

  • Tara

Thank you so much for doing this episode! I loved seeing you guys! I loved the episode, and can’t wait for next week’s episode!!
I would love it if you guys went back to chatting about spoilers again, and maybe having another spoiler episode or something of your theories about where stuff is going!!!

  • Jimmy Rose

    Episode – 8/10
    Music – 4/10
I honestly felt that they did a pretty poor job of bringing the music of Grease to the screen. It just didn’t have enough power and push. I also think it was a mistake to follow the movie’s lead on “Greased Lightnin.” In the stage production the song belongs to Kenickie, not Danny, and I honestly would have preferred Sam to Ryder on this number.
Dramatically, I liked what they did with “There are Worse Things I Could Do” and it worked for Glee. I didn’t care for it musically enough to buy the single.
“Beauty School Drop Out” was a big fizz for me, and let me tell you that I love anything Blaine sings. Not this. He did not pump up the cheese enough on this for my personal taste. The song is a pastische and it’s one of the best moments in the show. Perhaps it lacked the build up since we were simply dropped into the scene.
Anyone else wonder why Marley didn’t realize that her personal clothes still fit and it was only her costume that was a problem? The prank really highlights Kitty’s utter wickedness, but it’s not the kind of prank that works more than once.

  • Meredith Sims

There are moments in my day while I’m staying in my dorm listening (now watching) you guys that I should like be on Glee Chat. I like to talk about Glee with these two girls in my hall and they won’t go into much depth as you guys do. I like talking about Glee to other people because I want a different opinion than my own.

I honestly think that this was a good episode but not a great episode. I loved how Britney and Santana were the only “civil” broken up couple in the episode. They both addressed that they missed each other and yes, they want to get back together but they can’t right now. I think Santana handled breaking up with Britney very well than the other characters in the show because if you’ve noticed basically the whole episode seemed like the characters were going back and forth about how they feel about the breakup and questioning if I should see this person or not and should I give him/her a second chance. That’s what it seemed like to me for some random reason.

My new “OTP” is Ryder and Marley. I loved when Marley was singing the reprise of “Look at Me I’m Sandra Dee” and in the mirror you could see both Jake and Ryder on either side of her and it was like she was choosing a path that she wants and she picked Ryder. I think she made a good choice because I think she wants a guy figure in her life since her Dad left her and her mom and Jake would’ve screwed her up even more because if Marley and Jake got together the issue of trust would get in the way and it everything would’ve been a mess.

Unique is growing on me. The first few episodes I really didn’t like her but now I love her character. We get to see how her family thinks about her dressing like a girl. I think they accepted it but they won’t Unique to be another statistic for teens who are committing suicide because he likes to dress like a girl. See I think Glee is lacking the parents. I want to know how they feel about their child doing this or that and they need to bring that back.

Kitty is a b****. She is the person who I would vote off the island or I would like to see her get eaten by zombies on The Walking Dead because I can’t stand her. I wonder what her home life is like because what made her turn into this person? Also, I’m confused because I wonder did she hint to Marley that she has an eating disorder or did she want Marley simply to fail? I can’t even with Kitty. She like a little Sue but more evil.

Now, Blaine and Kurt are getting karma right back at them but Blaine is getting the worse end. Yes cheating isn’t acceptable but Kurt should’ve been better with his communication. I’m sorry but for a long distance relationship to work you need: trust and communication. They had the trust but lost the communication. I do see where Blaine is coming from when he wants to explain but I think Kurt should listen. People aren’t listening to him, let him explain.

I’m not a super senior like the kids in Glee. I live a hour and a half away from home and I thought I was home a few times a month but I’ve been to my high school TWICE, in the 4 months I’ve been here, to see my friends and my theatre teachers. Other than that I love talking to my friends online but I liked how they gave me that space to enjoy college. Glee isn’t giving the kids that space. It’s sooo awkward to have Finn direct the New Directions. See I would’ve brought Idina Menzel back to the show because she obviously knows what she’s doing so I wonder why didn’t Will consider her. Finn reminds me of this guy who graduated with me and he got offered a job at my high school to work with the theatre department while he’s going to college. 1. People know him and like him and 2.I feel a little bad for him because he has to deal with high school kids and not enjoying college and he just seems stuck and I think Finn is stuck too. I don’t know if you guys remember this in the VERY BEGINNING of Glee, I think Quinn and Finn and at some point Puck and Finn are Lima losers and they can’t leave Lima. The only person who is stuck there is Finn and I think that Finn will turn into Will at some point in time in his future. Yeah, he tried to apply to college and the whole army thing was a fail but I think Finn is scared to leave his comfort zone.

The musical next year should be Hairspray but I want them to cover these songs: Lego House or The A Team by Ed Sheeran, Red by Taylor Swift, Mr. Brightside by The Killers, That’s What You Get by Paramore and If You Ever Come Back by The Script.
Also I’m a Starkid fan and when I saw the preview for the new episode I was thinking it was a shout out to Holy Musical B@tman!!!! Ryan Murphy if your reading this I waiting for a Red Vines reference. Thanks for reading my long rant about the episode.

    • Mitchel Clow

I’m glad you enjoyed the episode Meredith! And I agree, they should do Red! The more Taylor Swift, the better!

  • Ken

Wonder if Rachel would have the guts to teach Cassie how the game is played by reporting her sleeping with a student to the NYADA administration.

  • RumbleroarLuna

THERE WAS A LIVE SHOW WHY DIDN’T I KNOW ABOUT THIS?!?!?!?! It’s gonna be posted on iTunes right? It’s the easiest way for me to listen… :P

Also, I thought of this last night and wrote it this morning, but I was texting my friend during “You’re the One That I Want,” so I didn’t see the fantasy sequence and I only looked up when Rachel was on the ground. So this was the first thing I thought of:

There was that spoiler about a “leading lady” on a TV show getting pregnant soon and I think it /is/ Rachel. Cause during “You’re the One That I Want,” she collapsed onto the floor. I think. I missed whether or not she fell though, and I only actually saw her on the floor. But then Kurt asked if she was okay and she went to the bathroom, and then she called Brody first thing. So either she was thinking about how guilty she was about leaving (I actually just realized that was probably why… I came up with this last night and looking at it in the light of day there’s faults). But anyway, then when she starts crying, it could’ve been not just about Brody and Cassandra, but also the fact that her first kid wouldn’t be Finn’s and it could ruin her schedule of her life (and her career).
It made a ton of sense to me last night. Now not so much. But still.
And reading the glee-cap and seeing that there was a reason she fell makes me doubt this, but it’s stil (maybe) viable.

  • http://zackluye.com Zack Luye

I feel bad for Mercedes, but if her parents want her to be a boy then, I don’t know, I guess it makes sense.
