Beautiful Creatures is based on the novel by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl. The film was written and directed by Richard LaGravenese. It stars Alice Englert as Lena Duchannes and Alden Ehrenreich as Ethan Wate. Lena is the new girl in a small Southern town where being different doesn’t make you friends. Ethan and Lena have a strange connection and can’t figure out what is causing it. Ethan soon learns that Lena is a Caster, a person who can use magic, and that on her sixteenth birthday she will be claimed for either Light or Dark.

Ethan tries to find a way to save Lena from going Dark and solve the mystery of how he is connected to her. At the same time Lena is trying to handle the whole town turning against her. The novel is told from Ethan’s point of view so it will be interesting to see if the film takes a broader view, such as The Hunger Games did. The film also stars Emma Thompson, Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis and Emmy Rossum. It is set for release February 13, 2013.

What did you think of the new ‘Beautiful Creatures’ trailer?

When it comes to producing children’s content, WarnerBros. has been pretty shady- I’m surprised, though. It looks like they caught the YA train at the right time, even beating City of Bones and The Host to the punch. Solid cast, solid marketing. Someone called it right over there this time.

what do you mean “pretty shady”? like they did some mafia stuff?
      please explain

So excited for this movie! But I must say I’m not too crazy over who they chose for Ethan, he kinda gives me the creeper vibe

This actually looks so good. Now I want to finish the book… I kinda gave up on it half way through two summers ago.

they used the same song used in the game of thrones season 2 trailer “seven devils”. So naturally, all i could think about while watching this trailer is how much i miss GOT, and the months i’m going to have to wait for Season 3.

At 1:45 in the trailer, they misspelled the word “THIS”. It says “TIHS FEBRUARY”.

Wtf? Seriously? No one caught that? I wonder how many people saw this trailer before it was released to the public.

    • Abosuba

It’s just the effect but the spelling is correct

The book was pretty forgetable, but I have to admit, this trailer looks fantastic. The characters in this are much stronger than the book, it seems. Love the main guy; he seems very different from the stereotypical guys found in teen movies these days.

I agree- I was totally underwhelmed by the book, but the film may win me over.

I’ve never read the book but I think I might have to before seeing the movie or I might be confused. Looks decent though.
