The first poster has been released for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones.

In anticipation of the trailer which will be released later tonight on MTV, the poster for the film has been released. The trailer will also debut on the big screen in front of Breaking Dawn – Part 2 this weekend.

The poster is a gorgeous blend of the two worlds depicted in the story. First is the human backdrop of New York City. The urban setting allows the story to have a gritty edge and the city easily allows for the supernatural elements of the story to unfold. The reflection of New York in the bottom half of the poster is the world of the Nephilum that is hidden away from the human or mundane’s eyes.

Synopsis:
Set in contemporary New York City, a seemingly ordinary teenager, Clary Fray (Lily Collins), discovers she is the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, a secret cadre of young half-angel warriors locked in an ancient battle to protect our world from demons. After the disappearance of her mother (Lena Headey), Clary must join forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld, filled with demons, warlocks, vampires, werewolves and other deadly creatures. Based on the worldwide best-selling book series by Cassandra Clare.

What do you think of the poster? Also according to Cassie, the trailer will premiere tonight! What are you hoping for in the trailer?
