Chris Eccleston showed up on the set of Thor: The Dark World today as the villain Malekith the Accursed, and we have some photos from the shoot.

This is our first look at Malekith the Accursed and his army of Dark Elves. It was revealed a few months back that Eccleston would be playing the villain in Thor‘s sequel. We also get a nice close-up of Thor on set.

Fans most likely know Eccleston from his role as the ninth Doctor, but he’s also known for playing a baddie in quite a few films and TV shows. As for the Marvel villain he will play, the Dark-Elf ruler Malekith the Accursed is a super-villain in the Marvel Universe.

From what we’ve seen from the leaked set videos from Thor: The Dark World, we know that more war will be occurring in the Thor sequel, and the casting of Christopher Eccelston as Malekith the Accursed confirms that Dark Elves will play an integral role. In some low quality leaked videos yesterday we saw what appeared to be Dark Elves in full-length cloaks, standing in a circle around Thor. There were also some photos released recently which were in the courtyard of a college in London.

I’m assuming the little dots on his face are for CGI, right?

*can’t wait for Thor2! hope it’s just as good as the first one!*

I really like them with the face masks on, but I’m not too sure about them without. I’m hoping that aspect makes more visual sense within the context of the film.
