Remember Watch Dogs, the futuristic sci-fi open-world game that had everyone talking after this year’s E3? Well, according to Ubisoft, it will be coming next year.
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced Watch Dogs is scheduled to release sometime in 2013 during a financial call today.
Despite speculation to the contrary, the publisher confirmed to Joystiq at E3 that the title will be coming to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 “for sure,” and that a Wii U release is still an option in addition to PC.
Guillemot also spoke about the next generation of consoles, saying he doesn’t expect development costs to rise for the first two years of development due to tandem development alongside the current generation.
“In the first two years, we expect the costs will not increase compared to what we have today in creating the games we launch,” he said. “We don’t know about the third year where we take full capacity of those consoles, we probably will have to spend more money at that time.”
Guillemot also said he expects he is confident in how the Wii U will perform on the market.
“[The Wii U] will be a machine that will help the industry next year,” he said. “For the other machines it depends when they come. As the market has been waiting for along time, we expect they will have a big boost.”
