How I Met Your Mother‘s Alyson Hannigan will reunite with her former Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star when Seth Green guests as her old college friend.
CBS’s official How I Met Your Mother Twitter account broke the news today that Seth Green is set to guest star in a season 8 episode of How I Met Your Mother, playing Lily’s old friend from college, writing:

Green and Hannigan both starred on Buffy the Vampire Slayer; Green played Oz, Willow’s high school boyfriend, in seasons 2-4.
The Hollywood Reporter has added some more details about Green’s role on HIMYM, writing:
He’ll play Daryl LaCoutre, a college classmate who looked at Lily and Marshall (Jason Segel) as his best friends — though they barely remember who he is. They find him 12 years later, still living by the Wesleyan campus, obsessing over a reunion with the married duo.
Interestingly, this is not the first time Green and Hannigan have reunited – technically they also did so for Buffy, as they both previously starred in the movie My Stepmother is an Alien, where they were also love interests! As kids, of course:
We can’t wait to see Green and Hannigan reunite again! How I Met Your Mother has had several Buffy alums guest star in the past, including Alexis Denisof (Hannigan’s real-life husband, who starred as Wesley on both Buffy and Angel), Harry Groener, Tom Lenk, and Danny Strong.
Still, considering that Hannigan and Green’s characters were so closely linked on Buffy, this is the most obvious reunion the show has yet staged. Do you think they will allude to the iconic WB series in the episode, or will they play off Green’s Robot Chicken and Family Guy success and have him put on a voice?
The episode is set to air on December 10, 2012.
