Next week viewers will be introduced to the Governor, one of the greatest villains in The Walking Dead canon. So what does David Morrissey think of his new character?
The English actor took some time to chat with TV Guide in their “Cubicle Confessions” about his role as the Governor in The Walking Dead. The Governor, whose real name we’re not quite sure of yet, runs a town called Woodbury, which seems like the ideal place to settle down during a zombie apocalypse.
“Through a mixture of luck, his wit, ruthlessness he’s created a fortress around himself in Woodbury.”
So what does Morrissey like best about being on The Walking Dead?
“There’s a lot of action in our show so we get to do a lot of boys and toys stuff. I have a gun, which I really like. It’s a beretta, which I’m growing to love and get very possessive of people touching.”
When asked which is scarier – the zombies or the Governor – Morrissey doesn’t hesitate in his response.
“The Governor, I think. The zombies are very scary, but they are very direct in their pursuit of you, whereas you can never guess the intention of the Governor.”
For those of us who have read the comics and seen the Governor in action, we have to agree. You generally know what a walker’s next move is going to be, but not so much with the Governor.
Morrissey also shares that his first job was a paperboy, though he admits he was not very good at it, often forgetting to drop papers off at a few houses.
With his current job as an actor on one of television’s most popular shows, what is it that David Morrissey likes to watch?
“I love TV. I watch a lot of Doctor Who and stuff like that. My wife and I watch Mad Men, and my son and I watch Breaking Bad.”
So apparently he’s a big fan of his current network, AMC, which can’t hurt his excitement for his new role on The Walking Dead.
