The Hunger Games: Catching Fire actor Liam Hemsworth, who plays Gale, reveals in a new interview with USA Today that he was injured while filming last week.

“I twisted my knee,” Hemsworth revealed. “I try to just fight through it. There’s so many people standing around waiting for you to do your thing. You feel sort of obligated not to let everyone down.”

The injury may’ve been due to an action sequence, which Hemsworth says there are more of in this sequel. “There’s a bunch of action in this one. All of the characters have much more action than they did in the first one.”

Elsewhere in the interview, the actor says he lost a little bit of weight to get in shape for the character who didn’t enjoy watching Katniss and Peeta get close in the first Games.

We hope Hemsworth made a speedy recovery and stays safe for the duration of the shoot! The cast and crew are currently in Atlanta for the next couple months, then will wrap filming in December in Hawaii.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters November 22, 2013. See on-set photos of the District 6 cast filming in Atlanta last week which Hypable brought to you exclusively.

SPOILERS IF U HAVEN’T READ THE BOOK (I don’t see why if you’re reading this post.)

Probably going to be showing the evacuation of District 12.

If that’s true, who will tell Katniss that District 12 is gone? They can’t go from Arena escape to the District 12 evacuation to Katniss waking up in the Hovercraft with Gale next to her. That’d seem weird. And I don’t see them spoiling the bombing before they even escape the Arena, so..?

Nah, they’ll probably just have Gale explain it, and it will switch to a brief shot showing what happened.

        • Savanah

Yeah, I think that that would be best. Gale explains the evacuation and while he is explaining, it cuts to him actually rescuing the citizens with a voice-over. I hadn’t thought of that, and I’m glad you suggested it because it would really be the best/only way to show it effectively.

No, that would distract from the whole experience and ruin Lawrence’s style of directing. They will probably show it so that katniss shoots the arrow, then the explosions will happen, then they’ll cut to district twelve, show the bombings, then you see gale getting people out with a primary focus on Katniss’ family, then they will do a close up of him or her mother’s face watching District eleven burn. It will then cut to katniss waking up all groggy and her asking if shes going home and gale will say there is no district twelve and then they will just leave it there.

I would think it would be so awesome if they leave it at the cliffhanger: District 12 bombed, Peeta Captured, Hovercraft pulls stunned Katniss up, and the last thing you see is *personIforgotname* closes her eyes.
BOOM! “When will the sequel come out” “Oh my gosshh!”
And then Mocking Jay would start off with some flashbacks and some interviews, and then the first thing we see of Katniss is all the Gale/Katniss, haymitch face scratching action. Then it’ll be a nice break, and have more meat for the split.
