Following the return of The Vampire Diaries last night, the actors have revealed some tidbits about what we can expect from the rest of season 4.
Last night we saw Elena turn into a vampire, while the gang is reeling from the loss of her human life.
Speaking to E! Online, Nina Dobrev reveals that we’ll continue to see Elena evolving as the episodes go on. “We’re going to see a side of Elena that’s going to surprise everyone,” she reveals. “She’s just crazy and emotional and has cravings, except instead of craving a pint of ice cream, she craves a pint of blood.”
The second episode, “Memorial,” will see Elena trying a number of different kinds of blood. There’ll also be a(nother!) very emotional scene with Damon.
Paul Wesley also describes his feelings on the fourth season, saying that, “I feel like towards the end of season three, there were so many events occurring and there was so much happening, I was starting to get confused myself. So it’s nice to sort of go back to like, OK, there’s an issue, this is the issue… it is sort of a restart in terms of a whole new plot-line, a whole new story.”
Zach Roerig, speaking to The Examiner, has discussed Matt’s feelings about Elena giving up her life for him. He says, “I think that’s going to be around forever with Matt; that’s just the kind of dude he is.” And intriguingly, “I think he’s willing to do anything to repay her at this point.”
On Matt and Elena’s relationship, he says that Matt has, “the number one bodyguard in the world, now that she’s a vampire, and she’ll look out for him.” However, Zoerig does hope that Matt will come to play a more dominant role in the show. “Being aggressive and doing all of that stuff is really fun,” he explains.
Roerig also previews a new bond between Matt and Jeremy, saying, “I think before Matt didn’t really have a reason to stick around or feel like he had any family or any ties, but I think now you’ll start to see his brotherly connection to Jeremy [as a] tie.”
