The Spice Girls were all the rage this summer when the quintet reunited for the closing ceremonies of the London Olympics. Now, Geri Halliwell has released a solo performance of “Wannabe” she recently performed for a cause!
Earlier today, Geri tweeted the video of her perming a slowed down, acoustic version of the Spice Girls worldwide hit, and first single, “Wannabe”:
Wannabe is now uploaded, the words feel even more relevant to my life today x
The performance was recorded at The Breast Cancer Care Show on Wednesday, October 3rd. The performance and show was for Breast Cancer Awareness Day, with Geri spreading the message that “the care of people with advanced cancer matters” on her official Facebook page.
What do you think about the slower tempo and acoustic arrangement? After a couple of listens we’ve really grown to like it! After the first listen, we couldn’t help but draw comparisons to the original which is obviously the most recognizable version.
Geri has been tweeting the video with the hashtag #vivaforever, the Spice Girls musical that is set to open in just a few months. Does this mean that this arrangement of the song will be featured in the musical once it opens in London’s West End?
Let us know what you think of the performance and the arrangement below! It’s great to see the Spice Girls back in the public eye!
