In this morning’s batch of movie news, we have yet another Ben Affleck related story, as he is eyeing his next directorial feature in the form of a Live By Night, from the author of Gone Baby Gone; James Franco, Glenn Close, and Brit Marling are lined up to star in The Grace That Keeps This World, and more.
Ben Affleck is already looking ahead at his next directorial feature, which looks to be another adaptation of a Dennis Lehane (Gone Baby Gone) novel, Live By Night. The synopsis reads, “Live By Night uses some of the characters from Lehane’s sprawling period novel The Given Day and brings them into Prohibition. The focus is Joe Coughlin, the black-sheep son of a police captain who gets involved in escalating levels of organized crime.” [Deadline]
James Franco, Glenn Close, and Brit Marling are all set to star in The Grace That Keeps This World, in which the “story follows a father and his sons as they prepare for the upcoming hunting season. Family conflicts arise when a rookie environmental cop begins an investigation of hunting violations that reveals a family divided by their life choices.” The film will be directed by Terri‘s Azazel Jacobs from a script by Matthew Aldrich. Jodie Foster has found her next directorial project, this time in the form of a hostage thriller, Money Monster. “The story follows a TV personality whose insider trading tips have made him the money guru of Wall Street. When a viewer who lost all of his family’s money on a bad tip from the money expert decides to hold him hostage on air, ratings soar as the entire country tunes into this media frenzy.” [Variety]
Jennifer Connelly has signed on for a role in Akiva Goldsman’s directorial debut Winter’s Tale. The pair have also collaborated on A Beautiful Mind, which Goldsman wrote. The story of Winter’s Tale is “about a dying young woman (Jessica Brown Findlay) who falls in love with a thief (Colin Farrell) who breaks into her palatial home on Manhattan’s West Side. The film is based on the book by Mark Helprin, with Connelly in talks for the part of the girl’s mother.[Deadline]
Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters has been pushed back two weeks to January 25, 2013 and will receive the IMAX treatment, according to Paramount Pictures. “Set 15 years after the Grimm’s Fairy Tale siblings’ incident at the gingerbread house, the film finds Hansel and Gretel working as bounty hunters, tracking down supernatural beings.”
