A gorgeous new The Vampire Diaries cast image shows all the main characters in season 4, including Daniel Gillies (Elijah) and Torrey DeVitto (Meredith).
The image was released on Entertainment Weekly‘s website. It shows from, left to right: Zach Roerig (Matt), Torrey DeVitto (Meredith), Claire Holt (Rebekah), Daniel Gillies (Elijah), Joseph Morgan (Klaus), Paul Wesley (Stefan), Nina Dobrev (Elena), Ian Somerhalder (Damon), Kat Graham (Bonnie), Michael Trevino (Tyler), Candice Accola (Caroline) and Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy).
Aside from the fact that Elijah has been included on this image – suggesting that his role this season 4 will be more significant than cast and crew have let on – it is also worth noting the characters’ placement.
Matt curiously finds himself standing on the far side of the hybrid quartet, next to Rebekah (another clue that the pair will be growing closer this year) and Meredith. The middle trio should come as no surprise, but the right side is interesting too. We’ve got Tyler and Caroline, and Jeremy and Bonnie on either side. Is this an indication that Jeremy and Bonnie (like Tyler and Caroline) will be romantically involved again this season?
This image is part of a series of images released by EW; the first batch revealed were individual images of all the cast members shown in this group picture.
The Vampire Diaries finally returns after a too long hiatus next Thursday, with the premiere episode “Growing Pains.” The episode airs at 8/7c on The CW, and will show us Elena’s transition into a vampire (even though she’ll try her hardest to fight it, with the help of Stefan, Bonnie and Jeremy).
