Yesterday we reported on the viral video of Nicki Minaj losing her cool on Mariah Carey during a taping of American Idol. Now, Barbara Walters has claimed to have talked directly to Mariah, who had some very seriously disturbing details regarding what Nicki Minaj was saying when the cameras were off.

On this video, provided by TMZ, Barbara Walters claims that she had called Mariah Carey just before they went live on the air to ask her about what exactly happened on the set of American Idol. You may be surprised to find out that according to Barbara, who spoke with Mariah, Nicki allegedly even went as far as to say that if she had a gun she would “shoot” Mariah.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! What!? That’s a little bit extreme, Nicki. It’s also interesting to note that Mariah said she is uncomfortable emotionally but will continue with the show.

Apparently Nicki got wind of the details and went on a very long-winded Twitter rant defending herself, including claiming that her comments about the gun were not true:

The struggle to be a victim is real in these streets. Lmaooooooooooo / The struggle to not have the kid on the show is real in these streets. Lmaooooooooo / Hey yAll. Lets just say nicki said smthn about a gun. ppl will believe it cuz she’s a black rapper. Lmao. I’ll then hit up Barbara n milk it / Ironically no camera or mic heard the gun comment tho. Lol @ the struggle. Not even the producers believed u. Say no to violence barbz. / Barbara walters didn’t reach out from our team barbz. I guess we’re too dangerous. Don’t shake if u don’t wannA get shook!!!! LmAooooooooooo / I don’t call tmz n Barbara Walters cuz I stand on my own two feet. Never needed an army. God is good. Insecurity is as cruel as the grave. / I guess it hurts 2 have the producers tell u to ur face that nicki is the best judge we’ve had since simon. Awww, poor u. Keep them lies cmn / Tried to keep quiet but let’s go!!!! / Now if u want more tea tweet #gimmemoreteanicki

Okay so if neither story is true, it means that at least one of them is lying about a very, very serious, potentially life-threatening comment. That’s disturbing.

Nicki went on to tweet even more comments about the situation, apparently directing her messages this time directly to Mariah herself:

I thought we resolved it yesterday but I see u want ur pity party to continue. So I’m bout to po dot tea. / Nah. Dat tea is waaaayyyy too potent for the blogs right now. Lmaooooo. Ima keep it on COCK. Stale tea is the best t. Bwahahahahahaahhaaa / All I do is compliment u. That’s not enuff? Ur a legend, cheer up. U don’t have to run down ur resume or feel intimidated. Shady McGrady… / I wld just advise everyone who isnt there to witness what’s actually going on to #keepitzafukcute / Oop sorry brat. Shit is real in the field. Pls accept my apology. / Barbz this day shall go down in history. Cackling for the gawdts

For some reason we suspect that this isn’t nearly the end of this feud. Barbara Walters mentioned in the above TMZ video that there was a photo shoot scheduled for today. We’re wondering what kind of vibe was going down then.

What are your thoughts about the Nicki/Mariah feud? Some people seemed to think that it was made for publicity, but claims of violent threats involving guns seems a bit extreme to just make up for publicity. Either way this isn’t a good vibe for American Idol to be sending this early in the game, wouldn’t you agree?

I can’t take this seriously because Nicki doesn’t even make any sense in these tweets.

And did she really just pull the race card? If people believe that this threat is true, it’s because Nicki is crazy and has an attitude problem, not because her race and profession.

As in ANY professional work place, if Nicki truly did threaten to shoot Mariah, even in a sarcastic heat-of-the-moment comment, she should be fired immediately.

I agree. And Nicki saying the producers were callin her the best judge since Simon somehow makes me less likely to believe her side of the story.

Pour the Tea? What does that mean?

    • http://twitter.com/ivangatewood Ivan Gatewood

to give the details, or share gossip lol

Quite honestly, all this drama is making me less and less likely to watch Idol. If these two, Nicki especially, can’t be professionals, this season will be a train wreck.

  • http://www.style-abuse.blogspot.com/ Marcia

If she didn’t threaten Mariah, why bother going on this long Twitter rant?

  • http://twitter.com/acjub CK

She must have had a very poor education to write like that..

  • guest02

and were off to a GREAT start!

  • TheHamburglar

    Dear Nicki Minaj,
You’re not Biggy, stop talking about “the struggle”. You’re a flash in the pan who will be irrelevant soon.

  • http://twitter.com/StarkidSims Simone

and people respect this idiot WHY?! I wouldn’t want someone like that judging me if I was a contestant on Idol

    …lol

  • d3erudite

Nicki Minaj is one of the stupidest people I’ve ever heard of. Why do people tolerate her?

  • upper_westsider

I don’t believe this “feud” for one second. Idol’s ratings have been dropping and I think this nonsense was staged to get attention.

  • http://twitter.com/akacj7 Caroline J.

is this real life? this is so ridiculous. mariah & nicki are divas in the most annoying sense of the term. did anyone really think they were going to get along??

  • http://twitter.com/ivangatewood Ivan Gatewood

Mariah was condescending towards NIcki and Nicki gave it right back to her. Now, Mariah can’t handle the heat and is making up lies. If she were really emotionally unstable she wouldn’t do the show, she doesn’t need the money. I’m sure if Nicki would have threatened her, the producers would have reacted accordingly. Mariah should be more careful with whom she picks fights.

    • http://twitter.com/mattwiz13 Matthew Carenza

I agree 100% with every word of that. It’s obvious that Mariah feels threatened by Nicki and we all knew Mariah was going to be a diva and look down on others simply because they don’t have as many accolades. It’s ridiculous that Mariah would go down this path to get Nicki fired. It’s simply shameful.

First of all everyone is locked into a contract. Secondly for Nicki to blow up because Mariah starts stating her musical resume because nicki decided to critique her merit in regards to a critique she was giving a contestant, isnt mariah picking a fight, Nicki needs to learn how to be mature and know her place, yes shes famous but she doesnt have the musical merit to try to critique someone thats been in the business for ages. Shes not even a singer.

  • Gary65

    Shit just got too real.

  • PotterFan1029

Not that I want to justify what she said, but I don’t think she really meant it. Still, this is not good for the show and if one of them ends up having to go, I think it should be Nicki. I think her attitude (even if Mariah did make some comments) is too immature.

  • VideoKilledSeverusSnape

Why did they hire the worst people for judges? *cough*Nicki Minaj*cough*

  • http://www.hypable.com/author/lauracristiano/ LauraBC

So fight aside, do we really see either of these gals giving decent advice and critique to people chose who may or may not be singing in their preferred style? At the end of the day, it’s always about both of them. At least with Tyler and Lopez you felt they genuinely cared about the contestants and they were trying to accomplish something. Not sure that’s the case here.

    • http://twitter.com/Hmarjus2 Martrel A. Howard

Mariah is a legend yes shed be able to give GREAT advice and critique’s, Nicki’s career has barely started and thats what people’s issue is with her as a judge, she doesnt have the experience to be judging a singing competition especially since she cant sing

  • Guest

Nicki Minaj has been popular for what..1 year maybe 2? what
qualifies her to judge other musicians?..even before all this drama I didn’t
think she had enough experience (and now maturity) to offer guidance and
    advice…glad i don’t watch this show anymore.

Mariah Carey started this whole mess! Nicki Minaj looked up to Mariah as
an inspiration and some one who motivated her to get into music! She
was shocked that Mariah said things about her and didn’t want her on the
    show!

Nicki didn’t threaten her in anyway and Mariah went over
board with the whole situation, even ended up lying to Babara who
eventually made a big deal about something that didn’t happen.

    Nicki
Minaj is pissed because of all the lies that have been said about her
by Mariah and Barbara and all the media escalating it to an extent that
is unnecessary! If she would have threatened the life of Mariah, the
producers wouldn’t have tolerated it! Mariah just made these stories up to get her kicked out of Idol, because she didn’t want Nicki or any other women on Idol in the first place! So Nicki didn’t do anything to start all this or escalate it to any extent!

Sorry for my ramble, but all of this is true… I’m just sad that people go against Nicki in a heartbeat just because Mariah and Barbara said something! She’s a human being too, who is trying to make music her own creative way, expressing her self through songs, just like Mariah did and still does! I just don’t get Mariah & Barbara at all, I’ve slowly lost credibility with them both! I’m a fan of Mariah & Barbara… but what they did was not right at all!
