Three-time Emmy winner for an outstanding comedy series, Modern Family this season is gearing up for another successful year. See what’s being planned for a certain character in its fourth season. Spoiler warning!

At the end of the last season, we were left with the heartbreaking news that Mitchell and Cam’s plan to adopt a son had fallen through, Haley had actually been accepted into a college and was leaving, and most shocking of all, Gloria was pregnant.

In the premiere episode for season 4, Gloria struggles to tell Jay about her pregnancy, but once she does at the end, time jumps forward to Gloria now visibly pregnant. An interesting decision by the show, but it definitely moves the plot along, making certain in-laws’ arrivals believable.

It appears, according to Parade.com, that Gloria’s parents will be arriving on the show. Co-creator Christopher Lloyd spoke about the topic, saying, “We’ll be seeing her sister and mother – both big, colorful Colombians.”

Nothing has been mentioned further about how many episodes they’ll be appearing in or when they are slated to appear, but it’s probable that their plot lines will be involved with Jay and how he is coping with having Gloria’s relatives around, seeing as how he usually is hilariously unable to cope with Gloria’s more exotic and outlandish Colombian side.

How will Gloria’s family be developed? Will they be more than South American stereotypes? Give your opinions in the comments.

i think the writers messed up the plot when they made a recurring storyline
