In the cover story for this week’s Entertainment Weekly, Tina Fey teased some upcoming plotlines for 30 Rock‘s final season: including Tracy Jordan (Tracy Morgan) sending a controversial tweet.
“I discover that Tracy Jordan has tweeted, ‘I agree @theRealStephenHawking. Women are just not funny — never have been, never will be. #plotpoint,'” Fey said. We can only hope that the plot will explain why Stephen Hawking is somehow involved and that #plotpoint will trend on Twitter for weeks.
Last season, the show dealt with actual homophobic remarks Morgan made during a stand-up appearance. This time around it looks like Fey and the writers didn’t have to draw from reality to find controversial statements for Jordan to say…unless Tracy Morgan and Adam Carolla have been the same person all along and we just never realized it.
Fey also dropped hints on other plotlines for the show’s final season which include a “sexual awakening” for Liz Lemon, a Skype conversation between Jack Donaghy and Ann Romney’s horse, and the return of Matthew Broderick as Cooter-Burger.
While news that Tina Fey will not be leaving television anytime soon helps ease the departure of 30 Rock, it sounds like the final season is shaping up to be an excellent farewell anyway.
30 Rock returns next Thursday at 8 p.m. and the Entertainment Weekly issue featuring Fey hits newsstands today. The cover of which seems to have photoshopped Fey’s face to the point where it looks like one of those “is this person facing forward or sideways?” optical illusions. Not cool, EW, not cool.
