Has AMC’s The Walking Dead been renewed for season 4? The network claims that it hasn’t, but a contest on AMC’s website seems to say otherwise.
Yesterday we posted a story letting you know about how the American Red Cross has teamed up with The Walking Dead to promote blood donation, as well as the show’s upcoming season.
But there seems to be a flaw in the sweepstakes details.
AMC’s blog tells entrants that they will win a “3-day, 2-night trip to the Season 4 production of The Walking Dead in 2013.” But how can they promise a trip to the season 4 if the zombie-infested show hasn’t yet been renewed for another season?
We can only guess that deals are in the works, and news will come eventually of the renewal.
Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we are aware that “an AMC spokesperson confirms: The Walking Dead is not renewed.” EW.com also came to our conclusion that they show will undoubtedly be renewed, especially considering the season 2 finale brought in 9 million viewers. The numbers don’t lie: AMC has a real winner with The Walking Dead.
Entertainment Weekly’s coverage of this topic also included an updated official statement from AMC:
“The Walking Dead has not been renewed for a fourth season. There was no inadvertent pick-up of the series. Season three premieres October 14th. Promotional sweepstakes give-aways which involve prospective future season visits or opportunities are common practice in television. The sweepstakes rules clearly state AMC may award a substitute prize if the future season opportunity is not available.”

Whatever you say. If we can do anything about it, we’ll keep watching this excellent show in hopes of keeping viewership up so there will be a guarantee for multiple seasons to come.
At any rate, they still have quite a few graphic novels left to cover.
