With Sony’s newly announced PSN Day 1 Digital program, you will be able to download some of the biggest titles coming this October on release day from the PlayStation Network.
While Sony has released major titles like Mass Effect 3 and Borderlands 2 to the digital distribution platform on release day earlier this year, this announcement reveals the company has larger plans for the service.
The PSN Day 1 Digital program for October covers Resident Evil 6 and NBA 2K13 on October 2, Dishonored on October 9, DOOM 3: BFG Edition and 007: Legends October 16, Medal Of Honor: Warfighter October 23 and finally Need For Speed: Most Wanted and Assassin’s Creed 3 October 30.
PlayStation Plus members will also receive a 10% discount on pre-orders for NBA 2K13, Dishonored, Doom 3 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted. The downloadable release of 007: Legends will be available for 10% off as well, but only during the first week following the game’s release.
While the program is certainly forward-thinking for an all digital platform in the future, the move also risks angering key retailers that won’t like sales being taken away from them by Sony.
Will the PSN Day 1 Digital program prompt you to forego the usual trip to the store and download any of these titles?
