An artist may have revealed he and his band are working on a song for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’s soundtrack.

We The Kings’ Travis Clark, their lead singer, tweeted the following to his nearly 200,000 followers yesterday:

This tweet could either mean that he is indeed working on a song for the Catching Fire soundtrack, or him and the band simply got bored and felt compelled to write a song.

The artist selection process for these soundtracks is one where many artists will submit original songs to the studio, and then the studio selects which they receive they are using. It’s no surprise that many artists will write songs in hopes to be included; promotion through a film like The Hunger Games would generate them a huge number of new listeners.

The soundtrack for The Hunger Games, released just days before the film, included songs from Arcade Fire, Taylor Swift, The Decemberists, Miranda Lambert, and Maroon 5. They were all original songs and were not included in the movie.

We presume the Catching Fire soundtrack will hit iTunes and store shelves a couple days before the film’s November 22 release.

You can listen to We The Kings’ “Check Yes Juliet,” one of their more popular songs, below:

I love We The Kings, so I would love to see them on the soundtrack!

Saw them live 2 years ago, love ‘em.

I was wondering though, for the last 3 movies whether they would have a full-blown companion soundtrack or just have a few songs at the end of the score soundtrack? Because they only use the songs in the credits (unlike most movies w/song soundtracks), it might be overload to make an entire soundtrack for every film. The Narnia movies also only used them in the credits and had a couple songs at the end of the score.

I don’t know… The Spider-Man movies all did this type of thing. Each soundtrack was just a bunch of artists, and actually only one or two score songs at the end. (and none of the artists’ songs were in the actual movies) If Spider-Man can do it for three movies, I think Hunger Games can make it for four.

I love them :D my favorite We The Kings song is This Is Our Town.
    This is our town
This is who we’re meant to be
    And this is our town
Where our roots have grown so deep
    This is our town
This is where we’re meant to be
As I gently close my eyes
    I hear you whisper softly
    As we continue our goodbyes
And all I ask is that you’ll be there
    When I return

It almost seems like a song for District 12 :D

So psyched that they’ve written a HG song. Even if it’s not for the CF soundtrack, we still get a Hunger Games centric song from this amazing band!

  • Jacquelyn

I love We the Kings but I’m not sure how I feel about this…
