The first photos from the RoboCop remake set have hit the web, giving us a first glimpse of the revamped RoboCop suit.
Coming Soon posted a few of the photos earlier today, which you can view below as well as a look at one of the futuristic cop cars they’re using in the film, via a Twitter account.
The suit definitely looks a bit silly, although these things usually do when they’re not in action. Also, upon doing a bit of research it appears as if the film will feature several different variations of the suit, so it’s not clear whether this is the actual RoboCop suit we’ll be seeing once all is said and done.
In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front. Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilizes their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life. He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.
The RoboCop remake recently began filming in Ontario, which stars Kinnaman (The Killing) in the lead role, with an impressive supporting cast which includes Gary Oldman (Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy), Michael Keaton (Batman), Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction), Abbie Cornish (Limitless), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), Michael K. Williams (The Wire), Jay Baruchel (Knocked Up) and Jennifer Ehle (Contagion). Elite Squad helmer José Padilha is directing the film.
